I haven't updated my "100 things" in a while. Partly because there was little to tell, partly because I was being lazy about taking pictures, and partly because everything else was chaos.
So I'm going to overcompensate by posting two in one day; this is the first. It's about some things I meant to post over a month ago, but never got around to. So, a bit late, but here it is.
This all happened just after I got grandma's sewing machine. I really want to actually use it, and I've wanted to get better at sewing in general for a while now. So I wanted to make something simple, and something I'd actually wear. I decided on a basic circle skirt, for which there are numerous tutorials online.
I went to the market to get some fabric, and got this:
It's a very picnic-y fabric, and Herman immediately asked me if it was going to be a tablecloth. But I like it, it reminds me of those early summer days when it's just warm enough to wear a skirt. And I saw the little flower decoration and though that would make a pretty accent on the skirt - I have 5 of them, I think I'll sew them on or just below the waistband.

As for knitting, that has been very slow-going. I started on
Melia, and just can't get it to work for me. The pattern is awesome, the yarn is lovely, but I keep struggling with the cable pattern. It really sucked the enjoyment right out of knitting this. I want to try better needles before I give up - they'd make the cables easier - but I've put it all on hold for now.
---
But before I started on Melia, I finished my Laika cardi. The edge and button band took much longer than I'd expected, and were a bit of a pain (so many stitches!), but the end result is gorgeous!
Here is a picture of it while it was blocked - it didn't quite fit on my blocking mats and I kind of improvised. :P
The next "100 things" post will have some pictures of this cardi all finished, with the buttons sewn on and me wearing it.
