Dream -07-

Warnings: Cute overload, I hold no responsibility if you get cavities from reading.

"Hey, Neku!" came an excited voice from behind him. Neku whipped around with a big smile on his face to see his best friend Ayumu, who had his usual headphones around his neck of course. He was rarely ever without them. They both looked to be around five years old if you had to guess.

"Hey, what's up?"

"Not much. My mom said I could come over." Ayumu replied simply ecstatic for some reason as he practically rushed by him and started heading upstairs. Neku naturally followed, feeling excited just from seeing his friend almost bouncing off the walls. By the time they got to Neku's room they closed the door and Ayumu led him to the middle of the room.

"I got an awesome idea!" Ayumu whispered, pure excitement and joy pouring from his voice.

"Well come on and tell me already!" replied a rather impatient Neku in a small voice, obviously not liking the suspense. Ayumu's grin just widened in response as he uncovered a box he had been hiding. When he opened it were tons of expensive looking crayons, colored pencils, paint, you name it it was probably there.

"Whoaaaaa..." was all Neku could say at the moment. It was like everything a kid could ask for and more.

"Yeah, and then I got an idea." he whispered, grin refusing to leave him, "Why not try them out on the walls? You know, like CAT does!"

At that Neku practically jumped. "That's perfect!" he replied, eager to get going. So much that he just took the box and ran out the door with Ayumu following close behind just as eager. They eventually got into the hallway, as they quietly made their way to a nice and blank wall in his house.

"Let's start here." Neku said in as quiet of a voice as he could at the moment. His friend nodded in agreement and started to draw what CAT would always do. Eventually fifteen minutes passed and it was quite obvious the difference in talent. Ayumu's part looked like a somewhat badly scribbled version of the Cat mural. Neku's on the other hand was just almost breathtaking. So much that his friend stopped drawing and was just watching as Neku appeared to be in his own little world.

Their time was cut short though as Neku's mom came upstairs to check on them and saw what they were doing.

"Neku! Ayumu! What do you think you--" she was cut off when she looked at what her son had drawn. It really was, dare she say, amazing. Especially when her son was only five years old.

Hearing his mom call him instantly pulled him out of his little world and he whipped behind with Ayumu looking just as guilty.

"S-Sorry, mom we were just uh..." Neku began but couldn't really seem to finish.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Sakuraba, it's not Neku's fault though."

The mother looked at the two boys and back at what they had done and gave a small sigh. Really, she was torn from being astounded and just mad.

"... Neku, did you really draw all of that?"

"Uh, yeah?" answered a rather guilty feeling Neku.

His mom smiled and ruffled his hair, as well as Ayumu's.

"You're both very good, you especially Neku." she stated, admiration filling her voice, "You might become quite the artist when you get older."

"So... Are we still in trouble?"

"Of course you are! You are going to clean this stuff up okay? Our house is not your drawing board." Mrs. Sakuraba said sternly at the kids as they looked down feeling a bit guilty before smiling just a bit, "When you want to draw, just let me know and I'll get you guys some big drawing boards next time. That way we can keep them. How does that sound?"

Ayumu and Neku's heads both shot up in excitment as they looked at each other and at Neku's mom.

"We got it!" they answered in unison, both grinning widely.
