(no subject)
I've spent the last week hanging out with Tim on holidays. It was nice, but I did start to feel like I needed some space come Saturday at Parklife. Nothing too bad though. I was fun to have him around, sleep in and enjoy his company. We went up the coast during the week to go to the dentist up there. I think we have seen enough of his parents in the mean time anyway. Great people but its pretty boring hanging out at their place.
Parklife was fun. I got bored during the day though. It was so hot too, I was sweating like a pig!! Lucky I purchased a fan from the valley markets. So many gurners kept approaching me at the festival so I would wave them down with my fan! Tim wasn't drinking and I had a few which was fun, but he didn't want to stay in the drinking area for long so we walked around and checked out who was playing. I was pissed off that Hybrid were on at 2.10 in the afternoon. Hardly a suitable timeslot given the style of music they play. It was still excellent to see them though. Dj Sneak was also good, as was Nick Warren who I have seen before and Kaskade who was also great. Now I just have to review the god damn thing. I usually like writing reviews, I just have to get my brain into gear and try and remember good dance music adjectives besides the usual ones that litter most reviews on ITM. I love writing about dance music, and an active member of the Brisbane scene, I would love to pursue some work in this field within the next few years. I'm sure with the right amount of networking, that something will come up. My friend Ian is starting something in promotions so I might just grovel to him.
I forgot that I also saw Maximo Park at the Zoo last Thursday night. It was a great show and I got drunk rather quickly. They have catchy songs which were sped up live and were far more edgy and punky which was great. It was strange watching a band. I'm so used to seeing djs and dancing to 3 hr sets that the show went rather quickly. It was fun to be at the Zoo again also.
Now that my weekend of fun is over, I'm left feeling empty. This is normal when you are hyped about something. Bring on Digweed! And anything else. I love this time of year when the festivals begin. We need more!
Some lady called me from Westpac yesterday and I called her back today and left a message. I can't imagine working in a bank though!
