I haven't updated this thing in forever. Let's see...what has been going on?
The new semester of school has started. I am taking mostly art courses this semester; digital photography, drawing, and then a boring math class. I am also continuing my world religion class from last semester. My car conveniently died out on my an hour before the first day started, but I didn't miss anything important - just syllabus info and all that stuff.
This semester I am actually looking forward too. I wonder if I'll end up switching to Graphic Design...who knows. I'm trying to get some ideas together for my final project; it's a long way off, but we need to work on it all semester, so best get started as early as possible. Out of the ideas so far I think I like simplicity, contrast, or documenting some kind of local missions/humanitarian work the best. I'll try a few different things and see what becomes of it.
It seems so hard to be unique and creative sometimes. That's actually the only thing that would stop me from choosing Art as a major, "would I be able to be creative and unique enough?". I was thinking about that the other day. I would like to be a great artist. I was thinking about all the things I could do or all the classes I could take to try to become a great artist (and classes and lots of practice definitely have their value), then I remembered something a friend said and came to a realization: I already am an artist. Being creative is part of being created in the image of God. And if you look at nature, the human body, the galaxies, the nebulae, you can not come to any other conclusion than that God is the greatest artist there ever was. So, I already am an artist - now it's just matter of developing that more.
About a month ago, I visit a school called Bethany College of Missions. I just faxed in my transcript form so that should be the last thing that they need. Now, it's just a matter of waiting to see what they say. Pray for my if you think about it, because if I do end up going there, I will need to come up with a $5000+ payment by December, then two $2000ish payments after that. God came through for me when I went to Japan, so He will come through for me here.
I would love to go to that school. I know that it would be a life-changing time. It would be so great to just get away from everything and just have some time to focus on God and grow in my own personal life. They do a lot of hands on stuff from the very start, too; and all the teachers are past long-term missionaries, so it's not just book knowledge they're teaching - it's real life.
I have posted a few new pictures on
www.jimrogers.info, so be sure to check those out. I am excited about the digital photography course I am taking this semester. I can do some basic editing on Photoshop, but I would like to refine those skills.
Anyway, I think that's about it for now.
Pray for me.
