First of all,
my pants are completely bankrupt. For reasons why, read on... But do please let me know of anything i should read.
There were some deliveries last week... On Monday morning i found a cheque from the IRS for over $800! Apparently i had missed a credit i wasn't aware of and had overpaid. Which reminds me, i should deposit that at some point.
Later on that day i got a package from Cafe Press. It was a shiny new license plate frame for my shiny new car. I don't like leaving the dealership's one on... why advertise for someone i just gave lots of money to? This one says "I Love Magick" :) Which reminds me, i should probably put it on the car eventually.
Tuesday's was the best though. Our baby Bean was born! At 4:11pm. Big guy, too, at 9 1/2 pounds.
momwillary was an amazing doula and not only helped
luvcherbear with everything, but kept me sane too :) This wonderful delivery is probably why i've mostly forgotten about the other two. That, and relearning how to sleep :) We'll probably come up with a pseudonym for him, but if Bean sticks, maybe that'll be it.
I haven't posted about the above until now because we had some complications. I'll let
luvcherbear fill in details if she cares to, but the short version is everyone came home happily from the hospital last Friday. Then
luvcherbear had to go back on Tuesday morning, which meant packing all three of us up (couldn't leave the baby alone after all!). Fun time to experiment with the car seat, although we had had one practice run to all go get pizza on Friday. I dropped her off and brought the baby back home, because a hospital isn't the healthiest place to hang out, especially not for someone just getting their immune system started.
momwillary was again an angel and came up as soon as possible to watch the baby so i could get back to the hospital to be with
luvcherbear. She finally got admitted some 6 hours after getting there, but by then it was looking like an overnight stay. Away from our new baby. This was very upsetting. I went back home to check on things, and as i got there
luvcherbear's uncle S. arrived to relieve
momwillary. He, baby and i went back to the hospital so mommy could spend some baby-love time before visiting hours ended. It was a very tearful goodbye that evening *sniff*
We went back first thing in the morning. The good news was that
luvcherbear was already medically cleared to come home! We just had to wait for some other things to clear. We hung out for a while and then i took baby and uncle back home (again, not wanting to keep the baby around a hospital too long). Then one fuck-up after another with the hospital and others sorting out the aforementioned other things caused continual delays with
luvcherbear's actual release! All on the part of administrative types, the staff we dealt with were wonderful. As it got closer to close-of-business we began to panic... mommy did NOT want to spend another night away from baby!
Fortunately, at the last moment, it all got sorted out, and i was able to bring her home last night. Yes, if you add it up, that's a LOT of trips back and forth between home and the hospital. It's a good thing it's only about 5 blocks away :) Uncle S. stayed the night again, taking care of the baby so we could both sleep for first time in days. I don't know what we would have done without his help... we owe him dinner out soon. No, several! We were very lucky he only lives an hour away and loves taking care of babies. He only left a few hours ago... That leaves the three of us to being settling into a routine :)
The ugly? No, quite the opposite :)
We will tell our children of the Anclient Lore / At the moment of their birth.
