HSM, Chad/Ryan, clothes grabbing and wall shoving and banter and schmoop, pg - part twogemjamApril 22 2010, 21:16:12 UTC
A not so subtle banging on the door forces them to pull apart before they get even halfway to the good stuff.
“Hey, Ryan,” Sharpay yells through the door. “I am leaving in exactly five minutes. Unless you wanna walk home, you better be in the parking lot before I pull away. You hear me?”
“Yeah, I hear you, Shar,” Ryan responds. “You’re kind of hard to miss.”
“Five minutes,” she reminds him before her clacking shoes signal her departure.
Ryan sighs. Chad’s not so tight against him anymore. He misses that crushing heat already, even though it’s not entirely gone yet. “You wanna come over?” he asks hopefully.
“I got homework,” Chad says. “Mom’s kind of on my back. Senior year. You know how it is.”
“Yeah,” Ryan agrees. “Walk me out?”
Chad nods and Ryan finally gets to his locker to grab his things before they head out to the parking lot together. The sky is bright blue, not a cloud in sight, and Ryan finds himself feeling lucky. If these are the best days of his life, he can’t ask for much more.
Sharpay is waiting in her pink convertible with a pout on her face like Ryan is really putting her out. At the other side of the lot, the Wildcats are convened, probably talking tactics, or maybe just talking about girls or something. Ryan doesn’t have long to think about it because Chad’s grabby hands are grabbing again, pulling him closer by the neckline of his T-shirt. Ryan loved having a secret, but he kind of loves being kissed like this too, like he’s special and Chad doesn’t care who knows it. Trust Sharpay to ruin a moment as perfect of that with the honking of a horn.
“You should probably go,” Chad says. “I get the impression she’d actually leave you.”
“Oh, she’s done far worse to me,” Ryan agrees. With a final peck on the lips, he retreats, climbing into Sharpay’s car and pulling on his seatbelt.
“Chad Danforth,” Sharpay mutters in irritation.
“Chad Danforth,” Ryan agrees with a dreamy little sigh.

You had me chortling from the first line, and I didn't stop until the end. Your voice here is perfect, I thought I couldn't love it any more than I did when it hit It was kind of cool. And kind of hot but then the next line had the Bat Signal in it, and it was hilarious, and I loved it even more. Especially since after the Bat Signal you managed to beautifully transition through clothes grabbing to wall slamming to banter. I don't have much to say about the banter, I'm too busy grinning ridiculously.
And I want to be annoyed at Sharpay interrupting, but it's so fabulously Sharpay that I couldn't help but laugh.
I forgot how much I love these two, thank you so much for writing this and reminding me. ♥
