Why is a candid photo of a girl sitting on a curb by herself inherently beautiful? Think about all the photographs you've seen. How many of them involve someone, anyone, alone, framed only by their surroundings? She could be doing anything, be anywhere, dirty or clean, high class or low (or middle). She could be young, old, beautiful and not. She might be sitting on a bench. She might be a boy. Or a man. Maybe he's standing alone somewhere.
Why is solitude beautiful? Or is it merely intriguing? Do we pity them somehow? Does it speak to our inclination towards companionship and make us want to know them more intimately? To approach them in their solitude and save them from it? Is it the intimacy that does it?
Why is black and white photography that much more beautiful?
Discuss.
