Summary: Once upon a time, there was a brown rabbit and a white rabbit. The brown rabbit was named Shishitan and the white rabbit was called Choutan, and oh, were they happy rabbits!
The White Rabbit and the Brown Rabbit
Once upon a time, there was a white rabbit called Choutan. When Choutan was a month old, a man took him away from his family. Choutan was very sad, and he cried, until they arrived at a pet store. He was very afraid because there were a lot of men here and his momma always told him to be wary of men. But there were also a lot of animals. The dogs barked and made Choutan whimper because he thought the man took him away from his family to be food for those big dogs but he was relieved when the man just walked past them towards the end of the room.
In a glass container, Choutan saw a lot of rabbits. He was amazed, because he didn't know that there were a lot of rabbits like him. Some even looked like his momma!
But of course, they were not his family so when the man placed him inside the glass container, he was still very scared. He even started crying.
The older rabbits hopped over to him and tried to comfort him but he still cried because he missed his momma so much.
Then a voice rang out from the crowd of rabbits.
"Geez, crying is so uncool!"
Choutan tried to stop crying, but it was hard so he settled for sniffling while he looked at the brown rabbit that was now hopping over to him.
"Stop crying, you. You look stupid."
Choutan cried some more. "S-sorry."
And that was how Choutan and Shishitan met.
Choutan felt really close to Shishitan because of that so he followed Shishitan around all the time. Shishitan got annoyed and told him to "Stop following me already!" so Choutan stopped following him. He felt hurt, but he also understood Shishitan's feelings. After all, being followed around by the new kid must be really embarrassing for Shishitan.
Choutan really, really tried not to follow Shishitan around, and he had almost succeeded but then Shishitan started to look upset. Choutan wanted to know what was wrong but he was afraid that Shishitan might get mad again, so he kept silent and instead played with the other rabbits.
But Shishitan really looked upset, so Choutan tried to be strong and he cautiously approached Shishitan and nuzzled his ear.
Shishitan was surprised, and yelled a lot, but he didn't seem mad so Choutan did it some more because Shishitan didn't look upset anymore.
Shishitan never told Choutan to stop following him since then.
Choutan found out that Shishitan was just a week older than him, so he called Shishitan with -san to be polite, even if Shishitan told him not to.
"Shishitan's just fine, you idiot!"
"But Shishitan-san, I can't!"
"It sounds so uncool."
"It's alright, Shishitan-san, I still think you look cool."
"Huh -- what -- fff -- whatever."
Choutan really, really liked Shishitan. He wasn't sad anymore even though he still missed his momma because he had Shishitan with him. After all, all rabbits have to go off on their own some day. At least, that's what the older rabbits said.
Choutan was happy because while they had a lot of friends, he was the only one that was allowed by Shishitan to nuzzle Shishitan like that. Shishitan never did it to him because he was afraid that it might make him look uncool but Choutan understood and was still happy.
He didn't think that a rabbit could ever be this happy.
Then one day, two men came into the shop and took a look at them. One of the men had messy, white hair and a cross necklace around his neck and smiled a lot while the other had brown hair and a cap and frowned a lot.
Choutan thought they were a really funny combination but he liked the way they looked at each other as if only the other was special.
"Hurry up and pick one already, Choutarou."
"I'm so happy you're really getting me a rabbit, Shishido-san!"
The man with the blue cap turned red. It reminded Choutan of Shishitan. "That's because you wouldn't stop crying for one!"
The smiling man didn't stop smiling despite the rude comment though and instead smiled some more and, after making sure that the pet shop owner was busy with other customers, gave his companion a peck on the cheeks. Shishido turned even redder.
"W-wha-wha -- ffff --"
Yup, definitely Shishitan.
Speaking of Shishitan, there was a nose nudging at Choutan's side and Choutan looked, head cocked just a little bit in question. "What is it, Shishitan-san?"
"Be careful of them, Choutan," Shishitan muttered, giving the men a wary eye. "They're here to take one of us away. Sometimes even not only one."
Choutan's eyes widened. "Really? But they don't look like bad men!"
"Of course they don't," Shishitan said, frowning. "So that no one will know they're bad!"
That made sense. Choutan nodded and nudged Shishitan back with his nose. "Were you worried about me, Shishitan-san?"
Shishitan-san, just like that Shishido, turned red as well. "O-o-of course not, you idiot! I just wanted you to be careful, that's all!"
Choutan was really, really happy because obviously Shishitan was lying so he leaned in and nuzzled Shishitan some more.
"Ah! Shishido-san! Let's take this one!"
Shishido raised an eyebrow at the nuzzling rabbits. "Which one?" Choutarou squatted down next to the cage, reaching inside to get the white one.
As if sensing the danger, the brown rabbit stepped in the way. Choutarou squeaked, and he pulled his hand back. Shishido was beside him in an instant, taking a look at his hand. "What, what happened?!"
Choutarou winced, looking dejected. "The brown one bit me."
Shishido glared at said brown rabbit. Brown rabbit glared back, protecting the white one.
"If you want to get Choutan, you'd have to get through me!"
Shishido scowled, looking for the pet shop owner. "Hey, you! Do these things have rabies or what?!"
"A-ah! I-I'm sorry about that, sir!"
Choutarou grabbed at Shishido's sleeve, trying to reassure him with a smile. "Don't worry about it, Shishido-san. I probably just startled them."
Shishido still looked pissed. He reached into the cage, but before the rabbit could pounce at him, he grabbed it by the back of its neck, holding it in midair.
Shishitan struggled.
Shishido frowned at him, looking murderous.
Choutarou panicked, standing up and trying to calm his sempai down. "T-that's just a rabbit, Shishido-san!"
"Yeah? Well --"
They were interrupted by a thumping sound coming from the cage. Choutan was panicking by now, jumping again and again as if to reach his companion. They were going to take Shishitan? They can't! They can't!, thought Choutan.
"Ah, look, Shishido-san..."
Scowling once more at the rabbit in his hold, he glared at it for the last time before putting it back down in the cage where it immediately broke free of his grasp.
"You bastard human, you!" Shishitan yelled, shaking a fist towards the man. He wanted to scream more profanities but a white fluff ball collided with him and he found his arms full of a crying Choutan.
"S-Shishitan-san, I thought they were going to take you awaaaaay ---"
"A-alright, alright, s-stop... bawling or something. It looks uncool. And don't rub your snot on my fur!"
"S-shishitan-saaaaan ---"
Shishitan looked away, a torn expression on his face. Sighing, he awkwardly patted Choutan's back, smoothing out the fur. "I'm not gonna leave you, Choutan."
Choutarou blinked at the scene unfolding, and a smile flitted across his lips. He peeked at Shishido nervously, a shy smile on his lips. "Shishido-san?"
Shishido's eyes narrowed. "...Choutarou."
"Please, Shishido-san?"
Shishido stared at him.
Choutarou stared back.
Well, this was unfair.
"Alright, alright! But you're feeding them!"
The pet shop owner was somewhere, trying to pretend that the biting never happened so Choutarou had the freedom to embrace his sempai in a big, big hug and kiss him full on the lips, which he did.
"I love you, Shishido-san!"
Shishido turned red, feeling all his blood go up to his face because he was certainly feeling light-headed now. (The kiss probably had something to do with that.) "Really," he sighed, patting Choutarou's head. "You're more like a dog. Are you sure you don't want a puppy instead?"
"Nah," Choutarou said, pulling back and smiling. He looked at the two rabbits still nuzzling each other and grinned. "These two will do."
Shishido shrugged, before turning away to call the pet shop owner.
Looking at the happy rabbits, Choutarou wondered if he should tell his boyfriend that the brown one reminded him of Shishido a lot.
"Stop crying already," Shishitan muttered, nudging the sniffling Choutan with his nose. "It looks really uncool."
Choutan sniffled some more. "Don't leave me, okay, Shishitan-san?"
Shishitan huffed, cheeks pink. "'Course not. You're helpless on your own."
When Shishido returned with the pet shop owner in tow, he raised an eyebrow at the big grin on Choutarou's face. "What're you smiling about?"
Choutarou shook his head. "Nothing," he chuckled, looking at his sempai straight in the eyes. A soft smile stayed on his lips. "Thank you, Shishido-san."
Shishido blinked, before sporting a smile of his own. "Yeah."
Once upon a time, there was a brown rabbit and a white rabbit. The brown rabbit was named Shishitan and the white rabbit was called Choutan, and oh, were they happy rabbits!
One day, two men that went by the name Shishido and Choutarou came to their pet shop to find pet rabbits. They wanted Choutan, but Shishitan wouldn't let that happen!
Choutarou thought that Choutan really, really liked Shishitan and Shishitan really, really liked Choutan so it would be just cruel to separate them, so Shishido and Choutarou took both! At first, Shishido didn't like the idea of having rabbits in their apartment, but he soon came to love them too. (But he’d never say it.)
Choutan loved his new owners, and while Shishitan and Shishido still have little quarrels here and there, Shishitan loved them too.
And they lived happily ever after.

"Close your eyes, Choutan!"
"S-Shishitan-san!"
"Close your eyes, damnit!"
"B-but... they look like they're enjoying themselves... isn't it painful?"
"...I don't know. They look like they're having fun."
