Lessons Learned. Nifty. Or something.

Things I have discovered during my recent spurt of ficathon participation:

1. I have a total emotional disconnect from every ficathon piece I have or will write. They're not mine. They're orphans and it's sad and tragic.
2. Writing about Eve pre-You're Welcome is like having oral surgery without novacaine. I'm just saying. I don't know if post-You're Welcome would be better, but it can't be worse.
3. No matter how much writing I do in the weeks leading up to the due date, I will still end up rewriting the entire fic the night before/on the due date.
4. My difficulty with titling stories is multiplied tenfold when it's a ficathon assignment.
5. Even if due dates for ficathons are weeks away, I still feel immeasurable guilt when trying to focus on non-ficathon fic and get nothing accomplished.

Overall lesson learned? Less ficathons are better for Dana. Now, I'm off to finish my Firefly ficathon assignment.
