A hodge-podge, as it were

a. HOT! So very freaking hot here the last few days. Our central air is due to be installed in the next week, so we had to get the window units in to be able to, like, survive.

b. So I bought a pound of cherries at the grocery store last week, and it turns out that they cost us $10 (and were all skudgy). Husband held it in for a bit, then pitched a fit (it was cute, really) and started raving about the uber high prices of the local grocery chain. Which is why we spent OMGSOMUCHMONEY at Costco yesterday. But we should be able to do Costco every 4-5 weeks (at far less than our stocking up trip yesterday) and Trader Joe's once a week to supplement. Also, we're looking into getting our produce from one of the local coops.

c. After the trip to Costco, which was exhausting on its own, I did a fuck ton of cleaning around the house. Managed to do some stuff on the computer, then had dinner and a couple of beers and totally just vegged out.

d. Bandombigbang stories are going up, woohoo!! Clearly, I failed epically at this, but I'm still working on the story itself, which I'm hoping to have done and posted in the next few weeks.

This turned out to be halfway between the two extremes that USA was promoting it as (LOLmarshals, and srs dramaz). I wasn't instantly captivated and thrilled by it, but I did enjoy it. Of course, then Husband had to point out how Marshall's voice was eerily similar to Dante's from Clerks and that sort of distracted me a bit, heeee.

Anyway, I really like Mary as a character. She's competent and dedicated to her job, but isn't perfect at it, and while I could do without the stereotypical "successful at her job woman is bad at relationships" I did like the dynamic between her and Rapheal. And her family! Dysfunctional, yes, but in a very real way that's still so very underscored with love (and ineptness and missteps).

ALSO! Hah, the guy who played Blackwolf was in it, with his hair down, guh!

f. Some music....

Morningwood - Sounds a bit like old skool 7 Year Bitch, but updated and with some pop aspects. The extremely interesting Chantal Claret (who is married to Jimmy U) does lead vocals on this (and I believe she writes some/all of the lyrics) and she has a great sound.

Take Off Your Clothes

Also, Heather Nova's cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game.
