Then we travelled to Best Buy where I purchased S1 of House and Chuck got the entire series run of Profit, which was apparently a very short lived Fox show from the 90's--and, really, is there any other kind of Fox show from the 90s?

Yea and verily, the biggest miracle of House is not that an oddball medical drama about a misanthrope doctor became so popular or that Hugh Laurie is suddenly a serious dramatic sex symbol or any other thing that gets talked about, but the fact that Fox didn't cancel it in the first place.

Though they did, of course, screw up the airing order of the first thirteen or so episodes. Because it's Fox, and that's practically a part of the contract. (It should have gone, um.... Pilot, Occam's Razor, The Socratic Method, Maternity, Paternity, Damned If You Do, Fidelity, Poison, Sports Medicine, DNR, Histories, Detox, and Cursed, with the episodes airing correctly thereafter.
