I got a package in the mail today from amand_r and tianyu (and Urvi, Saki and Sasquatch, too, though I bet Sasquatch wanted nothing to do with me because I've only met the critter once and I refused to pet him on account of the ringworm he had at the time because I had a new kitten of my own at home). Chuck handed the package to me and I laughed because it was covered in tape. Manda and I have been known to send each other things so damn wrapped up in tape that it requires twenty minutes and razor blades to actually get the damn packages open.
I finally got the lid off and discovered Folger's instant coffee packets, as it was my turn to receive soft-and-squishy sentiments and obviously Manda would go for the literal to give me a laugh. I, of course, burst into laughtertears and held them up to Chuck for him to see, absolutely delighted and not even considering that there was anything else in the box. Eventually, I looked back down and realized there was indeed something else in there.
An iPod Shuffler, in fact. For no other reason than I'd mentioned getting something like it, and I've been having such a rough time lately that Manda & T thought it would make me feel better and give me a lift.
And I could go into a huge sapfest here about what the two of them mean to me, how they're chosen-family, and always will be. But I'm so overwhelmed that all I can say is, thank you. For the gift; for the thought behind it; for every bit of love, support, family and joy you've given to, and shared with, me over the years; for reminding me at a very rough time that I am indeed blessed.
