Sorry if you felt intruded upon. Personally, the Oscars is like the SAG awards and a good other wastes of time. (Part of the reason why I'd back him, though, is because he makes the film-maker-I-was-to-be happy. As a writer, I think Jonathan Nolan is pretty satisfied with the whole cast.
I'm kind of amazed this one ever went from independent film to Hollywood, though. Seems like too much exposure and a waste of time, too much demand and not enough control over how you practice the craft.
Take for instance John Cusack. Brilliant in High Fidelity, gets drafted into an unknown void of romance filk. I mean, it's not worth the effort to go to Hollywood. Somehow, you get the impression that Ledger figured that one out after a point of no return.)

I guess it's not a matter of need but an object that kind of gets bandied around as a holy talisman. No, Ledger doesn't really need the award, being dead and whatnot, but given the significance of the award in the minds of actors and the public, it would take a better performance at this rate to convince me it shouldn't be given posthumously as an example that yes, acting really matters at these awards ceremonies.

(Crap! Sorry about the length; I didn't realize I was still into discussing this stuff...)
