Sorry if I've been too quiet. As usual, it's been a while since I've made an entry.
My birthday up at Calaveras was a blast. Good times. At Visalia I enjoyed the opportunity to give gun commands to the matchlock gunline. That went well, althought I'm told I wasn't loud enough. I know I'll be able to work on that when I know my lines better. I've been spending what little free time I have with Dana. It's been a lot of fun hanging out with her. On the home side, it's been quite busy. Mom had lung surgery, so Dad and I have been picking up the slack. Mom's friends have shown an amazing amount of support, which has been very touching. Work got completely insane at the end of April. If it wasn't for the hard work of my coworker Kat I don't think I would have been able to do it. But now suddenly things are quiet again and we're caught up. I've got time to do some finicky projects, and our ducks are once again in a row. It's been hard, because the other member of my unit, Anna, has been out dealing with her mother who also is going through a major surgery. Unfortunately for us, it may be a few weeks before she is back at work.
So with things being like that, I've missed out on a few social occasions like the usual Tuesday night gatherings and Thursday pint nights, and of course the Bytes reunions. I look forward to doing more of that as things get better. Perry and I have a short vacation coming up, our annual trip to Southern Faire. So that's keeping me going.
It's Mother's Day, so Happy Mothers Day to all you moms out there, and also to all of you who mother me throughout the year. I do appreciate the love. My mom's not feeling well enough to deal with relatives for a few hours, so she's cancelled our plans. Suddenly I'm wide open, so I think I'm going to take the opportunity to catch up with someone I've been neglecting.
Oh, incidentally Dana took me to a concert. We went to see the band Cake in San Jose, and it was a good time. I'm having a hard time explaining who they are to people. But they are a little left of center so it's not surprising. Last night I went to see a women's football team play, the Oakland Banshees. Kat is a volunteer Athletic Trainer for the team, so I went to show her support. Unfortunately, they got really clobbered by a team from Sacramento. It was 62 to 12. Ouch! But the ladies played it rough out there. There were more injuries than I can count, there weren't any holds barred. So the game was pretty exciting. Apparentlyl Sac's team is high up in the rankings, so the loss was to be expected. After the game I got to hang out with the team at a local restaurant. It was funny, a server came by and we asked her how late they stay open. She shyly replied that normally they close much earlier, but they keep it open for the Banshees. No wonder she looked a little tired.
Cordial fans can take note, my latest experiement finally got filtered yesterday so it's ready for the last step. Soon there will be lemony goodness to taste.
Thats enough chatter for now. *hugs* to everyone. Hope to see you soon.
