this short writing is dedicated to my grandmother laverne. the kind hearted woman who raised my brother sister and I, in a time much needed. She gave me hugs no matter what, and always told me she loved me. I never told her I loved her for a long time, but before she went I did. I told her I loved her many times. I loved her scalloped potatoes and ham, and her nifla. I loved her voice. She dropped out of school in the 8th grade and married a man named jerome. Jerome was 16 when he had to drop out because his dad was convicted with the crime of child molestation. Jerome's brothers and sisters were too torn up to run the family farm, so My grandpa jerome got like three jobs and took care of the farm all by himself. I dont know if he ever finished high school. maybe he did. He met my grandma in north dakota they both moved down to bremerton, after my grandmother's best friend her sister mary moved down here. so they raised their families in this part of the world. all my uncles tell me that my grandpa jerome was a good man. He knew what he was doing. My uncle bob always tells me this story.
|sitting around the dinner table|
"hey dad can I barrow some money from you."
"yeah sure that meal costed me 10 bucks so you owe me five."

my uncle bob has a good line of jokes. He made me laugh growing up. He woud take me and my siblings to the store on sheridan and pine. we would tkae awhile picking out our favorite candy.
"hey nick you ever hear this one? I told a girl to make up her mind at the restaurant once, she pulled a tube of lipstick out of her purse and smeared pink all over her forehead."
"little as I was I laughed just because i was happy someone made an attempt to make me happy."
someone told me you can't shake hands with the devil.
I asked
"why not?"
"he's evil."
and i said.
"Oh well I try to be nice to everyone no matter who they are."

when my dad was sixteen or seventeen his dad had a heart attack. My dad was supposed to go visit him in the hospital a particular day, but decided it was more important to go smoke weed with his cousin gary. That night his dad passed on.
I know a woman who was 14 when she discovered she was a lesbian. The discovery was held in the latter day saint church. the girls felt guilty for kissing each other so they told the bishop what happened. The bishop told them it was very wrong and told them to go tell their parents right away. the womans parents told her it was evil and told her to never do it again. The girl grew up wearing the scarlett letter, married a man named joel had three kids and then when chance came she divorced her husband picked up her true orientation and was too mindfucked to see anything else. Her kids grew up in a wrecked home. Needless to say It was the greatest time of their lives.
Shit when downhill for me when I met a kid who constantly needed attention.
"just tell them Im going to kill myself if you dont come over."
