[DA] Anders fanmix: between the shapes i thought i knew

Jul 28, 2012 22:29

Since finishing Dragon Age II about a week ago, I've been thinking about Anders a lot, and I mean a lot, and I still couldn't get the bastard out of my head (pun not intended)... This fanmix is one of the results of that thought process. It's mostly Anders-centric, but a bit of part two and more than a bit of part three is devoted to the relationship between Anders and Hawke. (A little bit of backstory for those of you who would like to know: I played as a female mage and sided with the mages.)

Also, huge thanks to lunatics-word, who made those amazing covers, since I'm photoshop-illiterate. Thank you, love, you're the best ♥

part one. FREEDOM

one. AND RUN. he is we

kinda wish I had the courage,
a bit of bravery.
so tired of waiting on a man to come and save me.
wishing I had everything,
or something really.
I do admit it,
but now I'm thinking freely.
I'm going to open my mind to all these,
new found exciting possibilities.

gonna grow up, be someone,
draw a map, find a path,
take a breath and run,
and run

two. THE WEIGHT OF LIES. the avett brothers

the weight of lies will bring you down
and follow you to every town
cause nothing happens here that doesn't happen there
so when you run make sure you run
to something and not away from
cause lies don't need an aeroplane to chase you anywhere

three. GREY WEATHER. gregory and the hawk

in the bright light of morning, map the last leg of the trip
I call on you to catch me as I'm coming over that bridge
through the mind-fog of the beach and the cracking concrete
the broken wings of reverie leave me always having faith

and you'd say, this is not the time for goodbyes
it's too late
you'd say, this is not the time for goodbyes
it's too late
it's too late

four. ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS. sara bareilles

can't tell you the truth
'least I don't lie about that
kind of comfort in you
comes when you lie right back
safe from such a strange point of view
to hear your own words on you

how much do you go to be gone
You are any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in

five. WILD TIGERS I HAVE KNOWN. emily jane white

'cause it's the magic hand
that holds you gently
and turns one into many
and there inside,
it's bloody to reach boldly
for truth spoken from mouth in his name

six. MY SKIN. natalie merchant

I've been treated so wrong
I've been treated so long
as if I'm becoming untouchable

contempt loves the silence
it thrives in the dark
with fine winding tendrils
that strangle the heart

seven. I GOT NO ROOTS. amy macdonald

I got no roots they're not set in stone
I got no place that I call home
I'm just a low low lonely soul

and the time will come when the day is done
and the fighting's over the race is run
I don't know what I'm looking for
and this life I lead it's a curious thing
but I can't deny the happiness it brings
I don't know what I'm looking for

eight. THE WOLVES (ACT I AND II). bon iver

someday my pain, someday my pain
will mark you
harness your blame, harness your blame
and walk through

with the wild wolves around you
in the morning, I'll call you
send it farther on

nine. THE STORM. boy & bear

'cause we are the fugitives, and we'll keep running for our lives.
'cause one nor a hundred men, could keep us from clinging to our pride
'cause it's been blowing hard, and it'll wait for no one

part two. JUSTICE

one. MY BODY IS A CAGE. peter gabriel

my body is a cage
that keeps me from dancing with the one I love
but my mind holds the key

you're standing next to me
my mind holds the key
my body is a...

two. SOMEONE YOU'D ADMIRE. fleet foxes

I walk with others in me, yearning to get out
claw at my skin and gnash their teeth and shout
one of them wants only to be someone you'd admire
one would as soon just throw you on the fire

after all is said and after all is done
god only knows which of them I'll become

three. THIS TRUMPET IN MY HEAD. lykke li

I can't get that trumpet out of my head
I can't get that trumpet out of my head
I woke up and I can't get that trumpet out of my head
and you say you can't stand me when I'm quiet,
and so I shot you in my silence
I can't get that trumpet out of my head

four. KEEP IT QUIET. ra ra riot

another hour, oh
trouble having satisfied two different paths
can I give up on one, it's a thought I hate
all I could lose, it's a cruel life I choose

oh, cold water for cooling down
but you know that when you stay around
old fortune, for sudden leave
oh but maybe you're sincere

five. NO, I DON'T REMEMBER. anna ternheim

'cause I don't remember
love needles in the hay
the life I knew by heart, and lived everyday
the secret codes and signs, you and I, and eye to eye
wake me up, hurt me, you have to
I forgot how to cry

six. DRUMMING. florence and the machine

there's a drumming noise inside my head
that starts when you're around
I swear that you could hear it
it makes such an all mighty sound

there's a drumming noise inside my head
that throws me to the ground
I swear that you should hear it
it makes such an all mighty sound

seven. RUNNING FROM LIONS. all time low

get me out of this place, before I cause more damage,
a small price to pay for building houses out of matchsticks;
and when things get too hot, you've got me to blame for,
every fire that breaks out in every lover's name,

don't forget, we've got unfinished business,
stories yet to unfold,
tales that must be retold,
and I regret not knowing when to put an end to all this madness,
keeps me wanting,
keeps me wanting more...

eight. UPRISING. muse

they will not force us
and they will stop degrading us
and they will not control us
we will be victorious, so come on

interchanging mind control
come let the revolution take its toll
if you could flick a switch and open your third eye
you'd see that we should never be afraid to die

nine. WHEN THE WAR CAME. the decemberists

and the war came with a curse and a caterwaul
and the war came with all the poise of a cannonball
and they're picking out our eyes by coal and candlelight
when the war came, the war came hard

part three. VENGEANCE

one. NIGHT TERROR. laura marling

I woke up and he was screaming.
I'd left him dreaming.
I roll over and shake him tightly,
and whisper "If they want you, then they're gonna have to fight me,"
(oh, fight me)

two. THE DEMON. emily jane white

I'd like to write a song for you,
with arms wide open the way I do,
and I'd like to tell the truth to you,
shot through the chest the way I do

if there was a demon would you hold her?
and be a nurse by her side?
I'll take a corset of your words,
tie them up high and bind them

three. UNDISCLOSED DESIRES. muse

I want to reconcile the violence in your heart
I want to recognise your beauty's not just a mask
I want to exorcise the demons from your past
I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart

four. NO LIGHT, NO LIGHT. florence and the machine

no light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
a revelation in the light of day
you can’t choose what stays and what fades away
and I’d do anything to make you stay

no light, no light
no light

tell me what you want me to say

five. I BELIEVE YOU LIAR. washington

all the things you've said
and things you've done
I remember, in memoriam
you said that you did
but you did not
oh, you ache for something
god knows what

six. RISE. azure ray

I know you've always been near
whispering secrets I know I'm not supposed to hear
hold your heart with two hands
give it to me only to disappear
look how low i've sunk
don't ask me to rise
I'll only lose you when i'm high
all alone in the dark
love survives only when we are apart

seven. WHITE BLANK PAGE. mumford and sons

can you lie next to her
and give her your heart, your heart
as well as your body?
and can you lie next to her
and confess your love, your love
as well as your folly?
and can you kneel before the king
and say I’m clean, I’m clean?

eight. RENEGADE. kings of convenience

I'm letting go
to see if you'll hold on to me
I'm in doubt
of what is thought and what is real

in our room
between the shapes I thought I knew
a guillotine
a pillow with feathers like snow

nine. I'M NOT CALLING YOU A LIAR (DRAGON AGE REMIX). florence and the machine

I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me
I'm not calling you a thief, just don't steal from me
I'm not calling you a ghost, just stop haunting me
and I love you so much, I'm gonna let you kill me

there's a ghost in my lungs and it sighs in my sleep
wraps itself around my tongue as it softly speaks
then it walks, then it walks with my legs
to fall, to fall, to fall at your feet
