The Death of the Queen
In silent darkness she escapes
Beyond the city, beyond the gates
Her final doom she has learned
Alas for the Queen! She will not return.
In shadowed solitude she walks
Under fading trees the world forgot
Gathering the memories of ages past
Ah! Bitter dream of things not meant to last.
In cold surrender she lies
Down on the hill, under the sky
Waiting for sleep to take her away
Oh cruel fate! Why can't the star with us stay?.
In peace the forest remains
Among the tress the twilight reigns
Until a gentle spirit slowly flies by
Behold! He comes to say goodbye.
In loving words he says to the Queen
Under the trees, in night serene
'Arise my love, do not despair
I've come to take you with me! Come, lady fair'.
In hope rekindled she opens her eyes
Under the stars that adorn the sky
Her King will take her to lands beyond
Arise! They are waiting for you, the Gates of Dawn.
In love everlasting they fly away from time
To their final destiny, where life is prime
And so the Queen and the King are reunited
In the same place their troth was plighted.
