Quick and easy HTML guide

I'm no expert in HTML, and I certainly know others who would be able to explain things better than me, but I just thought I'd write out this quick guide for people who have never posted to FIA before--or LJ, for that matter--and are also new to HTML ( Read more... )

That's helpful ^_^
I have a question: How do you post a small summary then when clicked on it shows you a white long page.. Am I making sense? I noticed it usually with fanfics posted on LJ.

That's a cut and only works on LJ.

Type: < lj-cut text="Your summary texty stuff goes here."> Before what it is you want to put behind the cut. You have to keep the quotation marks in it, as well as the space between cut and text. Take out the space after the first carrot though, so it will work. When you're all done, after your hidden text type: < /lj-cut>. Once again, take out the space after the carrot.

And I've just found out, cuts don't work in comments!

Thank you!
< lj-cut text="Your summary texty stuff goes here.">
That bit seems to work but the < /lj-cut> doesn't make a difference in the preview.
*Hugs* Thanks again!
P.S. Sorry about how ridiculous my previous comment is, I was sleepy when I typed it. *Blushes*

The < /lj-cut> ends the cut. For instance:

____
Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff.

< lj-cut text="Secret business goes here.">
Secrets. Secrets. Secrets. Secrets. Secrets.
< /lj-cut>

Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff. Journal stuff.
____

So you can have stuff stay out of the cut before and after your cut stuff. It's still important to use the < /lj-cut> tag, even when you aren't going to write more after the hidden text though.
