Drabbles!

Jan 27, 2010 23:43

I didn't really follow the rules of the meme I mentioned in the previous post. So I just wrote until I felt the drabble was done. These are slightly inspired by the songs that were playing, which I've named underneath the cuts. I might write some more later, in which case, I'll just add them here to keep them all together.

PS: Writing fic about TV shows is hard.

Glee: Artie/Tina
Broken (Featuring Amy Lee) - Seether
Teardrops on my Guitar - Taylor Swift

Artie filled his cup with punch, his hands clumsy with the ladle thanks to the height of the table. He wheeled around, scanning the party for one specific head of blue-streaked hair. He heard Tina's laughter before he saw her, his heart jumping at the sound. Mercedes was pointing at Rachel, obviously mocking her enthusiasm as she recounted-loudly, and with many excited flips of her hair-the entire tale of sectionals to Mr. Schu. Tina's eyes lifted to meet Artie's, but he looked away as soon as she'd caught him staring.

He rolled into the kitchen to escape the weight of her gaze, completely missing the disappointed look on her face as he left.

He should have known she'd follow him.

“Artie...”

“I don't talk to liars.”

“Artie... I didn't lie to hurt you.” She tried to put her hand on his shoulder, but he pushed hard on his wheels and dodged her touch. “I'm sorry for what I did, but if you can't accept that, then just forget I ever kissed you,” she said, a slight edge to her voice that Artie had never heard from her before. The Tina he knew wouldn't have stood up for herself. But that Tina had never been real, had she?

He turned around to say something, but was met with the sound of the kitchen door slamming shut as she stormed back to the party.

Glee: Artie/Tina (Second version)
Now That We're Done - Metro Station
Say This Sooner - The Almost

Tina hadn't meant to do it, but against her will, her eyes had followed Artie around the room all night. This should have been a fun night celebrating winning sectionals, but it seemed as if everyone was too preoccupied with their own problems to really relax.

As Rachel stood in the center of the room and retold the tale of Finn's miraculous comeback for the tenth time, Artie wheeled past Tina, deliberately, she thought. She followed him into the kitchen, but stayed near the door.

“I'm sorry!” they both said at the same time. She giggled nervously as his lips twisted into a tight smile.

He gestured for her to speak first.

“I didn't mean to hurt you. That was the last thing I wanted to do.”

“I know,” he replied, his eyes to the floor. “I was just hurt because I thought we had something in common.”

She fidgeted on her feet, her hands twisting her fingers anxiously.

“But I'd like to see if we do have anything in common,” he continued. Her head lifted hopefully.

“No more lies,” she promised, hesitantly taking a step closer to him.

“No more lies,” he agreed as he pulled her onto his lap.

Avatar: the Last Airbender: Zuko/Katara
Misery - Good Charlotte
Falling Down - Muse

Since the day Zuko had helped Katara carry out her revenge against the Firebender who had killed her mother, she had been uneasy. Something was different between them. As horrible as it was to admit, they had bonded. She knew she could trust him, knew that he understood her. She found herself wanting to understand him as well. She kept her eyes on him around camp, but not suspiciously, as she had a few days previously. Curiously, eagerly.

He believed that she had given up on her revenge, but the pain was still there. Knowing that he had seen her nearly lose control of the tight reign she held on herself and hadn't looked at her with disgust since then, as she had expected he would-knowing that elevated him in her eyes. He had not been what she had expected. He'd seen her at her weakest point, and now she felt unnaturally safe with him. She wanted to tell him about her mother, about her guilt-because certainly she had been the cause of her mother's death.

But she didn't want to make a fool of herself if he rejected her. So far, it seemed as if she was the only one who had felt the shift in their relationship, and for him to dismiss that connection, and the feelings that she wanted to share with him, would be unbearable.

So she satisfied herself with sitting next to him when they gathered around the fire at night. During the day, her eyes lingered on him unnecessarily. Even if he didn't realize it, his presence relieved some of the misery that had built up inside of her. For the first time in many years, she felt the weight of her pain lift, but only when he was by her side.

Harry Potter: Draco/Ginny
Break Each Other's Hearts Again - Reba McEntire and Don Henley

Arms and breaths, hot and enticing. Their embraces were savage and desperate, like wild animals starved of food and then released onto their masters for revenge. But revenge was the furthest thing from their minds. Even as Draco trailed hot kisses down her neck, Ginny knew what they were doing was wrong, but she was powerless-no, simply unwilling-to stop it.

They could never work. The only thing that was right between them was the sex, but even so, Ginny's knees grew weak along with her resolve every time she saw Draco. He had to feel the same way, because when they met, they exploded like one of Fred and George's rockets. There was color and light and heat and fire, but no sound except for their panting breaths, and even those were swallowed whole in kisses and whimpers and someone's name falling off a whispering tongue.

“I've missed you,” she said into his skin, causing goosebumps to spread across his chest. As usual, he said nothing, but she knew he had missed her as well. If he hadn't, he wouldn't be running his fingers down her stomach the way he was just then, and his kisses could not have possibly been as intoxicating as they were.

They were wrong for each other, so very wrong. But for one night every few months, they didn't care. Tomorrow, they would wake up and return to their families, where they felt cold and alone. It didn't matter though, because they were never meant to be together.
