Personal Ratings:
Pilot: 5/10
Harry Has a Wife: 7/10
Don't Wanna Die: 9/10 (to give me a lil space upwards)
Sound of a Strap: 8/10
Tears Bring Harry: 7/10
Where’s the Line: 6/10
Not quite sure why, but this ep didn't drawn me in as much, hence the rating. It just seemed like it lacked something or like something didn’t fully add up. I guess the crime seemed somewhat random or not poignant enough to me and the important moment, Harry saving Karl’s life, wasn’t even shown. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it a lot! And I guess Global’s screwing with the ep order is part of why this ep seemed a bit odd, not coming right after Don’t Wanna Die as intended, which would have worked much better in showing Amy beginning to get pissed off at Ben.
I especially enjoy how they play with the format and the way the cases are presented - undercover work with Ben going more undercover than expected. The second case was fun enough to be interesting in and of itself as well.
Highlights:
- Ben and Amy at the beginning. Really enjoyed their interaction and the easy way Ben gives her a shooting lesson. And they’re getting more personal, me like (in a non-shippy way). RayK flashback from Ladies Man when Ben talks about the first time he fired his weapon.
tension, anyone?
- wet!Ben, heh
*pets*
- “You are out of your mind.” - “In a good way?” - LOOOOL!
- suit!Ben ;) and even sexier, dishevelled suit!Ben
as long as the tie's right...
- Amy getting pissed at Ben - this is going to build and goes with:
- “So, I’m reading this true story about a guy who’s got like ten personalities…” - “Interesting.” Yep, she’ll be the first to find out/be told by Ben.
- feetsies!
- CSI!Ben getting the cause of death
- setting up the story-arc about Ben’s kid a bit more. Wonder if Karl will come back. I’d kinda love for him to give Ben an important clue. Also enjoyed the bonding between Ben and Stephan as an ersatz relationship in a way.
- random
hmmm, hmmmm, HMMMMMMM!
- Ben putting up the pic of him and Ella. I miss her.
Not so good:
- would have loved to see the poker game
- the missing continuity was really felt in this one, but that’s Global’s fault
- still can’t really warm to the coroner, though I’d like to
- I really hope we’ll see more of the psychologist ASAP!
- the 2nd half of the ep. Ben only needed to hang out with the baddy and everything came together in the end. Did like the talk at the beginning coming full circle and Ben shooting the guy.
Observations:
- it’s becoming clear that Ben needs stronger triggers to get out of character now. That was different in the earlier eps
- Sam again comes out when someone threatens someone else - a father again. Definite hint at the origin of Ben’s DID
- Ben’s good a video games ;)
- Amy’s getting pissed, but also taking increasing risks for Ben. But then I wonder if Nick will follow up the events from the Pilot as well.
Questions:
- I wonder why they don’t let Leoben!Ben and kid!Ben out to play as often. I get them wanting to keep some for later on and kid!Ben will prolly play a bigger role the more Ben delves into his DID, but Leoben!Ben would be fun to have around a bit more
- was I the only one who thought Harry had gotten himself in a threesome when the guy came out and hugged him in the kitchen? ;)
- is Amy beginning to suspect that Ben has multiple personalities?
- Where’s the Line. How did that tie into the ep, other than Ben losing it undercover as Harry?
