Everything comes in threes

I never liked math, so really, anything with numbers was usually something I avoided. Someone once told me that math was useful in daily life, and my response was usually, "yeah, but that's what calculators are for." Something I cannot deny, however, is that there are numerical patterns in other things besides math text books. The Torah has them, and sometimes regular life has them too.

Someone once told me that everything comes in threes, and it's true. Three strikes, you're out, third time's the charm, three's a crowd, "Three's Company," usually comedy is best in groups of three, and I'm sure there are others. But what's most true, is that all good things, and bad things, come in threes.

In June my friend had a baby, and two of her friends had babies within the month. Three. If a couple gets engaged, there are usually two more couples in your circle of friends who soon follow suit. Now sometimes people getting engaged can be seen as a bad thing if you're the single one left out. But what's worse than that, is death. Death also comes in threes. In January my friend's mom passed away, a few weeks ago, my other friend's dad passed away, and I just had a bad feeling that somebody else I know is going to lose someone in their family. It happened a lot quicker than I expected, but my family friend's father passed away a few nights ago, and it's sad, but true; everything comes in threes.

May those who have lost be comforted in these hard times, and may the souls of the departed be in their place with G-d.

May God comfort you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

patterns, life, death
