ANNOUNCEMENT!

Dec 02, 2005 18:01

Uh, i've been pretty slack about publicizing this, though an email DID just go out to the SU student body.

If you want to come out to Winchester [VA] tomorrow afternoon,

which is to say,
Saturday, December 3, 2005

i am presenting Pergolesi's Stabat Mater at 3:00 pm with soprano Erin Merceruio, a fantastic string quintet and organist, and a lovely [if tiny] choir, all conducted by Teri Leake, who is also awesome.

This is to occur at Market Street United Methodist Church, located at 131 S. Cameron Street [on the corner of Cork Street and S. Cameron Street in downtown Winchester].

Okay? It's a little under an hour long, depending on tempos -- between 45 and 50 minutes, generally. It's in latin. It's pretty. It was written in 1736, the year Pergolesi died. The "Amen amen amen" bit is used in Amadeus when Salieri's father is dead. EXCITING ENOUGH FOR YOU?!

So, recap:
Saturday, December 3, 2005
3:00 PM
Market Street United Methodist Church
[131 S. Cameron St., Winchester VA 22601]

The concert is free, and while there are parking meters, i think parking is free on weekends.
