Torchwood/Highlander Crossover

Mar 11, 2009 22:57

This is a sequel to Death Comes as the Beginning . It doesn't follow directly in the timeline, and I'll probably write another that fits in between them.

Unbeta'd so all concrit welcome.

Disclaimer: Torchwood and Highlander don't belong to me, I just do this for fun, not profit.

Tools of the Trade )

crossover, fic, torchwood, amanda, captain jack, ianto, immie!ianto, highlander

I like the idea of Glyndwr's sword being unbeatable; even if his rebellion ultimately failed no-one really knows what happened to him. It's just the sort of thing Jack would know about, and I think it's a lovely touch that Jack wants Ianto to have the sword knowing that story - and knowing Ianto will know it too. Awww.

Thank you, I'm pleased you like it. I look to you as my guru for Torchwood/Highlander ;-)

Cheers again for the icon link earlier, as you can see I followed it!

I think I like the idea of being a guru. Do I get naked slave tea boys? Or girls for that matter?

The mini icons are great, I've been severely tempted by the Top Gear ones recently...

hmm, dunno, I'll have to examine the fine print...

I took some Top Gear ones, but haven't used them yet - I've only one precious space free at the moment! And I couldn't resist the Father Ted ones.

OMG SQUEE.

I'm more pleased that Ianto gets a half-bastard sword than the Owain thing. Hee. Bastard.

My ex has a Bastard sword; I wonder if this is significant? I do find it rather amusing I have to admit.

I'm also kind of genetically biased toward the Glyndwr thing as my great grandmother was a Welsh speaker and a formidable woman which makes me inordinately proud of my Welsh heritage.

As well you should be :)

I've recently bought a copy of a Tintin (Cigars of the Pharaoh obviously) in Welsh and one in English in the hopes I might be able to learn more than how to count to ten and say hello, cheers & happy saint David's day. And thanks to Gavin and Stacy, I seem to have got my accent back!

nice... I like the dynamic between the three of them. Very sweet of Jack to get Ianto that sword, especially for all that it means.

*Nods appreciatively*

Very nice, I love it that Owain Glyndwr's sword is in the Torchwood archives. Very satisfying and appropriate.

That's what I thought, glad you agree. And if it makes people find out about Owain Glyndwr, so much the better :)*waves Welsh flag*

This is a really nice follow-up, and even more when I opened a new tab to investigate who was Owain Glyndwr.
In my defense, South American schools system is not really strong on Welsh story.
But I should had know he was Owain IV, Prince of Wales. I live in a town founded by Welsh people!!!
Anyway, I love the idea of Jack getting that sword ready for Ianto, and the words he says as give it to him :)

heh, that's okay, I'm Welsh but because I was raised and educated in England, I didn't learn about him in school, I had to get a book from the library. Glad I made you smile :)
