The black SUV pulled up to the alley with a screech of tires and Jack, Gwen and Owen jumped out into the rain. They ran along the alley to find a gun to clean.
Mal too ate quickly and left for the cockpit to relieve River. Methos and Richie disembarked after paying Mal the agreed sum. They watched Serenity dust off then headed for the shower.
The death of Darius had hurt him harder than any other Immortal. Not because he was murdered, or because the atrocity had occurred on Holy Ground. No, it was because there had been an instant of surprise and recognition before the mask had slammed into place.
“You remind me of someone I once knew.” Duncan commented casually.
“Yeah?” the stranger replied cautiously, “I get that a lot. Although I do feel that we’ve met before.”
“Except if it was when I think it was then really neither one of us should be sat here now.”
“I was kinda thinking the same thing. Tell you what, I’ll say who I think you are and you say who you think I should tell him they’re nuns?” Lister asked.
“Nah. Why snatch his hope away?” the Doctor replied with a grin. “I’m glad to see you man. I wasn’t sure you’d be in touch again after what happened to Annie Devlin’s husband, but he was grabbed from behind by strong arms that reached out from the open doorway."
Byron and Methos rushed forward to help, but more came out and they were surrounded. “You have us at a disadvantage sirs.” Byron said with a chuckle.
“Guess not. Nor you.” Richie replied with a grin. Kryten pointed to the cabinet in the aft section.
“Excellent. Let’s go for a stroll then, shall we?” the Doctor finished, clapping his hands together.
