In which I get political...
It's not like me to get political very often, but I felt I couldn't let this pass without comment. This evening there was a Party Political Broadcast on all five major UK channels. For the BNP. Now I'm all for freedom of speech, and I accept that it means that the douchbags of the world get a voice as well as the sane people but I find it hard to swallow that those fascists are allowed to spread their venom on British television.
Worst of all, if you didn't know anything about them they actually came off sounding quite rational (especially to the Daily Mail reading 'silent majority' types). Part of what made Britain great is that she is a patchwork of nationalities, faiths and cultures blended together in a melting pot and it's been that way since recorded history began. In trying to preserve Britishness the BNP and their hatemongering ilk are ironically destroying it.
I truly worry for this country and the future when a party like the BNP becomes a viable opposition party. *hangs head in shame*
Please, anyone who is reading this who lives in a constituency where the BNP has even a chance of getting in, make sure you go to the polls and stop them.
