Red Dwarf is BACK BABY!

And it was Good with a capital GOO. :)

Not classic Dwarf, no Back to Reality, but so much better than Series VIII, and most importantly it was funny.

Started out on the Dwarf, ten years later Kochanski's dead (thank heavens) and Holly is temporarily out of action thanks to a minor accident due to Lister leaving the tap on for nine years. The snipin in the bunkroom is back and it's like they were never gone. The banter felt relaxed again rather than the cringe-making forced dialogue of VIII and to a lesser extent VII.

Through a blatant macguffin, the crew must travel dimensions to get Back to Earth, which leads to part two. My first reaction to the plot here was 'oh noes' but I think it's been handled fairly well, and there were only a few duff moments. The little Blade Runner references throughout had me laughing my arse off and the rest of my family looking at me like I'm nuts, so I had to try and explain between guffaws XD

So, tonight's was the episode I was dreading, and it was pretty damn good, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow night with fangirly squee.

Between Red Dwarf and the great Doctor Who that was on earlier, I might just die of fangirly squee! *happy dance*

review, doctor who, red dwarf, tv, squee
