Harry and Draco have been together in a tempestuous relationship throughout the later years of school, though that is only a small bit of information needed to understand the story, I guess.
Prompts used were ‘gentle’, ‘wrong’, ‘picture’ and ‘circle’ respectively
Draco felt sick as he crawled towards a figure that was undoubtedly his boyfriend lying motionless in the grass. Upon reaching him Draco’s heart skipped a beat as the confirmation that Harry had been badly wounded in the conflict was true.
“Harry?”
He groaned a little. “Draco?”
“It’s me, Harry. I’m here,” Draco replied, gently nuzzling into his chest. “We need to get you to hospital.”
“No.”
Draco bent over him so they were face to face and Harry shook his head. “There’s no time,” he croaked. “We won the war. But I’ve been beaten by the battle.”
“That talk is wrong, don’t you fucking speak like that,” cried Draco angrily, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“I can see them - my parents.”
Draco bent his head away from Harry’s, not letting him see that his angry tears had now turned into desperate ones.
“Draco… they’re calling me,” said Harry, his eyes beginning to shut.
Draco burst into fresh sobs and held Harry’s face in his hands. “I need you, Harry.”
Harry’s eyes fluttered open and he looked at Draco hazily. “You had me. And I had you. But their lives were robbed from me - and mine from them.”
Smoke billowed out of the cottage chimney and into the cool night. The air was silent and the world still. And in the centre of this picturesque scene were Harry and Draco each knocking back a bottle of firewhisky - not the first they’d drunk that night.
“I hate them,” Draco snarled viciously, finishing the dregs and throwing the empty bottle against the wall where it shattered into tiny pieces.
Harry said nothing and Draco looked at him through drunken-lidded eyes for support.
“I’ll never know mine,” Harry slurred softly - talking to himself than replying to Draco.
“I have to go.”
“You have to stay.”
Harry reached up and stroked Draco’s cheek. “I have to go,” he repeated softly.
Draco nodded bitterly. “Go. Fucking go.” He brought his own hand to his cheek and placed it against Harry’s.
“I love you,” Harry whispered.
“I love you.”
“Always.”
Harry’s entire body suddenly twitched violently and then, he was gone. Draco heard noises and wondered if vultures were circling above and whether they were interested in Harry or his own heart. Everything was a blur but he didn’t wipe the tears from his eyes because he didn’t want to see anything again.
