[Urgh. What time is it now? Her mother would probably be yelling at her to hurry up and get to school, but strangely, she can't hear her voice. Whatever, she's still half-asleep, so she takes a few moments to sit up, savoring her soft, soft bed ( Read more... )

[Booster spins, and nods in his full stupid outfit]

Well, its a creepy mind control factory that tries to break us so we're those drone thingies or do horrible things all the time? Do you want the full version, or just the sum up?

I've got a lot of time on my hands. Tell me everything I need to know.

[After that, she'll ask about the outfit. She's sure it's a superhero outfit, but there's a jarring lack of corporate logos.]

Ok. First off, I bet you woke up in some bed that wasn't your own with some guy you don't know. Congratulations, you've been kidnapped by the [deadpan tone] wonderful city of Mayfield.

[He lets out a sigh and shakes his head]

Dunno if you had any special powers back home, or were even human, but everyone wakes up a normal human here. After the town has dicked with you for a bit sometimes they give back a power, or make you a bit closer to what you were back home, but my suit here has taken months to get back together and I'm still missing a few things.

Oh! I'm Booster Gold, of Metropolis ma'am. Sorry about that but given how there are only some of us who aren't freaky zombies I'm kind of out of the practice of giving my name.

[She chuckles at the deadpan part, somewhat, but otherwise, she keeps silent throughout his speech, the only thing betraying her increasing worry being her facial expression.

To be honest, she's only half-listening to his explanation. Oh, yes, she got the important parts, but for the rest of it, she's thinking of Sternbild, of her parents and her friends, of the people who need her help, of the corporate sponsors, of the other Heroes. How would they be faring without her? And...how would she fare in this new place, without her powers?

Then he introduces himself, and she snaps back to reality.]

Karina Lyle, from Sternbild. [Then she raises her eyebrow.] Metropolis? Can't say I've ever heard of it. Are you some kind of Hero?

Yeah, I was one of the heroes there. There were a bunch but I think I'm the only one who's been brought here. Well as far as I know, but I've been bad at keeping up.

I haven't heard of Sternbild so, I'll just guess its a different Earth. You are from Earth, right?

[A...different Earth?]

Well, yeah. And what do you mean, different Earths?

Uh, I'm not a science guy or anything, but back home there was a theory that the Earth we were on wasn't the only Earth, and that there may actually be an infinite number of ones, one to go with each variation in decision ever made.

It was kind of long and complicated, and whenever I asked about it, I got a lot of nasty looks. I know there were a bunch of alternate ones but it was over my head most of the time.

I haven't heard of alternate Earths before. But...well, it could explain why I've never heard of Metropolis up until now.

Given all the weird things and people here, its probably the best way to make sense of it all.

I guess.

[She bites her lip for a moment, then changes the subject to something she's more comfortable with. At least, without dropping the "I'm a hero as well" bombshell, anyway.]

...where I come from, we have Heroes as well.

There are a bunch of people from my world here. Just not my city. I guess then you're used to the super powered villain types too.

There's a lot of them, but the Heroes take care of them.

[She sounds particularly proud of this.]

Yeah, that sounds like the way it is back home too.
