kris thinks yixing is the reason why the forest is resisting his efforts to expand the kingdom, but only because he doesn't know lu han exists.

(in this au yixing is the last unicorn protecting lu han the forest spirit. it's a symbiotic relationship: a guardian and his fortress, inseparable. kris is the prince who sends tao to hunt them. spoiler: tao can't do it so he tearfully quits and flees on lu han's back, leaving kris to hunt them himself. eventually he comes around, and everything is snow white and princess mononoke.)
