3 short things about the Doctor Who premier make a post, if you don't have much time
These are comments I left elsewhere.
1. Re-watch moment of win:
Amy: You were kicked out of the FBI because you had attitude problems?
Canton: No. I just wanted to get married.
Amy: Is that a crime?
Canton: Yes.
In an episode of winning sexy nods to the audience, this is pure \o/! (Isn't it? or am I reading too much into it?)
2. My first thought when the Doctor was shot was, that has to be River. Since she killed "a very good man. Best man I've ever known."
And, btw, space suit associated with River since her first appearance - Silence (!?) in the Library. Also referenced in this episode (see 3).
But if it is River, she should already know it, because isn't she in prison for that murder? I would assume that, if it was she, she was doing it on the Doctor's orders and with his knowledge - since otherwise, how could it happen, and he walks right into it, etc. And it has to be fixed, because otherwise they could never recast him.
It didn't really seem to me like she knew *all that* (like, that she had killed him, that she was going to kill him, that he had asked her to...) But who knows, timey wimey...
2a. And would that make the little girl in the space suit River. Even younger than Rory is picturing during her speech to him. Which could mean that the first time the Doctor meets her, she dies, and the first time she meets the Doctor, he dies. (I doubt it - that is just my mind over spinning, which it does when speculating.)
3. In terms of the ZOMGmisogyny, what bothered me most was River's "I think it will kill me" when we already had Amy execute herself for love last season. Suttee is the rule, not the exception, apparently. And it hurts because I love the show, though evidently not as much as Amy and River love their men.
For some strange reason, I don't seem to have an Eleventy icon, or a River icon. Slacker!
