I did, in fact, know that. Proto-Elvish *ty (the y representing a palatal offglide, not a vowel) became a plain /t/ in Quenya, but a palatal stop (/c/ or /kj/), and thence a velar (in some environments, but I think underlyingly across the board), in Sindarin.

Alatariel, actually, IIRC. IMHO a prettier name than Galadriel, but not if its counterpart would make her husband sound like he's the Hunter 9 of Middle Earth.
