BSG Slashability poll
So, almost all the really good fic I've read for BSG is het, and many have commented on the slash-resistance of the source text.
Which is kind of weird, because the two romantic leads both push at the gender lines a bit- Lee is somewhat feminized, and the show really presses hard on the 'are you picking Mommy over Daddy, healing over hunting' etc thing with him. And his call sign- holy male escort service, Batman! And his muscles!
Meanwhile, S1 Kara is Miss Female Masculinity, although I am worried that they are moving- tragically- away from that for her. She seems like an obvious femslash icon to me, but what do I know. OTOH, the way Lee and Kara are gendered is what makes them such an appealing het pairing, to me anyway.
I hear that at TWOP they call Gaeta "Lt Gaydar," but I'll admit he doesn't ping me that way particularly, despite his crush on Baltar.
