I was thinking that a certain writer's fic style was like a certain character. And I was thinking of that "which HP character am I?" question on a recent meme. And I thought of this.
(Everything is meant in fun. This is about styles/fics, not writers. If you're on this list, I love your fic, even if I'm the world's worst FB-er. And if you're not on here, it doesn't mean I don't love your fic, as some of you very well know. Sorry I couldn't do more!)
If Fic Styles Were Characters:
Elegant, powerful, exacting, cruel, gorgeous, exciting, disciplined, and rich. The sweet moments are pure sugar.
Lucius Malfoy =
Amanuensis Tells you exactly what he wants to do to you right from the beginning, never wavers, and yet surprises you when he breaks your heart.
Kreachur =
Cybele Likes to keep everyone close by and protect them; hates the idea of losing anyone; hugs Harry. Muggle gadgets in shed.
Molly Weasley =
Resonant A fantastic beast. Barely tame. Mostly interested in ferrets.
Buckbeak =
Alchemia and Bugland More interested in people than in concepts. Disdains fancy dress. Funny. Universally liked. Male.
Ron Weasley =
Sam Vimes Warm, rough, and sexy; often looks like the end when it isn't really.
Sirius Black =
Fabula Rasa Intelligent and friendly; has a talent for observing other people's emotions. Usually reasonable, with sudden outbursts of melodrama.
Remus Lupin =
Ellen Fremedon Ambitious, bold, scholarly. A work in progress. Obsessed with status. Only fic style to have read Hogwarts, A History.
Hermione Granger =
Minerva McTabby Subtle, independent, and complex. Intensely aware of the past. Ominous. Speaks strange languages.
Salazar Slytherin =
Isolde Humorous, sentimental, and reliable; a bit old-fashioned in a countercultural way. Name starts with "Mc."
McGonagall =
McKay Interpretations vary: brilliant, idealistic, and sexy? Or messy, hysterical, and incredibly unfair to Harry?
Severus Snape =
KazVL Erudite, yet playful and down-to-earth. Prone to meta. Trusts Severus Snape.
Albus Dumbledore =
Beth H. More contemporary than all the other Potter fic styles. Pink hair.
Nymphadora Tonks =
Helen Youthful, likable, and famous. Object of rumors, sometimes harshly criticized, also passionately fangirled.
Harry Potter =
Cassandra Claire Witty and merciless. Carefully groomed. Used to be a reliable antagonist to dominant favorites, but seems to be disappearing.
Draco Malfoy = Slytherlynx [not available]
Pictures Snape in women's clothing.
Neville Longbottom =
Diana Williams Deeply embedded in HP canon. Massive, beloved, sometimes a little slow. Loves children.
Rubeus Hagrid =
Telanu Crude, obvious, over-the-top, childish; not-very-cunning plots. Can be relied on to periodically mess up everyone else's story.
Voldemort =
Joanne K. Rowling
