Having sat for many minutes thinking of a way to describe how last night's gig went, I have decided that the best way to express it would be this.
No, seriously, the sound was pretty awful, and we were alot quieter than we'd anticipatred, but we heard nothing bad said about us. I didnt do that much opinion hunting afterwards, but Aaron did (which is a very Aaron thing to do) and we were described as
''dark'' ''dirty'' ''dirgey'' ''cool'' ''wicked'' ''avant garde'' and ''like sonic youth...I like sonic youth''
So all in all, a good show.
You all MUST see Jean Genet. They are awesome. And Boycunt were as good as ever.
We're playing another show in March I think, another Queer Mutiny thing. Nothing's official, but we were asked and we said 'sure'.
So, all the public posts are going to be Idle Decay related in this journal from now. This doesnt really affect anyone but me, but so you know.
In other ID related news, we have an EP coming out relatively soon. By that I mean it should be on the internet by the end of February, but I wouldnt bet upon it. Like I said, Bob from the squat is producing it (he who did the Little Whores on the Prairie demo) and plans for recording were originally friday but have been moved back to about a week or two from now.
The track listing is such (although subject to change) :-
1. Cooking Booyah For the Ransomers
Rocks like Thurston,Kim,Lee,Steve and Jim all got onto a surfboard with a mission to eradicate stuff that sucks.
2. The Vanilla Plague
Riffy. Something about a cat mumbling about the modern man. Running themes into the next track I guess.
3. Blue Whale In a Suit.
Melodic. We just sprawled out and wrote this one. Speaking the words, like we used to when we first heard Slint, gliding around like a track 3 should.
4. Staligmites of Fluff.
Ambitious. Goes on for EVER. It's boss. Has a lot of parts, it's kind of a song inside a song, bookended by some weirdness. That sounds pretentious, and we like it.
So there it is. I dunno what it will be called, but feel free to post suggestions.
