Just as how everyone remembers what they were doing when they first heard of Princess Diana's death, Michael Jackson's death this morning should also be similarly remembered, such is the brand name of Michael Jackson, The King of Pop.
Not since 9/11 has there been news coverage of this depth and breadth on end. From breaking news and updates to music videos and biographical retrospectives to interviews and condolences, the media blitzkrieg left no stone unturned.
Despite his later and recent years being the butt of jokes and a laughing stock, for all his quirks and oddities, Michael was, is and always will be a superstar non pareil. None other in recent history has made a bigger career and name. Who does not know the Moonwalk, and the white socks and the silver gloves, all of which Michael made his own trademarks, widely copied but never outshone.
When all is said and done, we forget the gossip and the scandals, but the music and the man will live on as legend, in history.
You've found your way to Neverland, MJ...
