Overheard at the 2008 Singapore Sun Festival Gala Opening Concert...
On my left, I had, "The last time for Sound of Music we sat there (pointing to lower Circle balcony)... And we were there (pointing to other side) for Mamma Mia..."All well and fine, IF we were in the Theatre (where the two aforementioned productions were hosted) and NOT in the Concert Hall...
And on my right, "Singapore is one of three places to hold the Sun Festival, the other two being in France and USA... This is the 3rd time it's held here in Singapore..." Erm, WHERE in France do you locate Tuscany? And for the record, it's the second year...
Meanwhile, behind me, "See that two boxes beside the piano, the ones that look like an organ but are not? They're percussion instruments as inside it's struck though its played with the keyboard..." I guess as with the piano, will raise the debate of it being a keyboard or percussion instrument, so I give you half credit. But no marks otherwise, for one of the "boxes" IS the organ, or rather, the electronic console for the Klais organ. And then you have to answer if an organ is a keyboard or woodwind instrument, no?
It was as though I were experiencing "Like, d'uh!" moments in surround sound. I know how on dates, you'd want to impress your partner with little-known trivia, but not ones you make up on the spot!
And you certainly didn't know when to shut up, even when I shot you dagger eyes as you kept giving a running commentary during the performance...
