Character Name: Luki
Series: DOGS: Bullets and Carnage
Gender: Female
Age: 12
Species: Genetically Modified Human, part of the DOGS project.
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance:
It goes without saying that Luki and her twin sister Noki have a very eye catching appearance. Everything from the mere style of their clothing, to the stripped leggings, to the bright, in your face colour scheme. One could definitely say that losing sight of them in a crowd would prove to be quite the amazing feat indeed. Not that Luki particularly cares to sneak around and remain hidden, not when one of her favourite pastimes is actively chasing down her prey.
Luki’s hair, like her sister’s is bright turquoise in colour and cut in a razored bob style. Her eyes are afflicted with Heterochromia, indicating that both eyes are different colours. The left eye is a pure, inky black while the other is a feral, yellow color. That is only the beginning! The rest of her outfit is fashioned in the likeness of that of a cute rabbit bordering on the Gothic Lolita and/or Visual Kei style. The dress she wears is predominantly black, trimmed with fur coloured the brightest of pinks (the reverse form of her twin sister’s outfit which is pink trimmed with black) and reaches about mid-thigh. The sleeves of the outfit trail down to the floor giving Luki the appearance of having freakishly long arms when in reality they are only used to conceal the gigantic blade that she wears on her right arm.
Around her neck, imbedded in the skin is a steel collar that is part of ‘the spine’ signifying that she and Noki too are part of the very same project Haine and Giovanni are. A project that’s simply entitled DOGS. Although the collar itself is concealed by all their clothing and hair.
Personality:
When it comes to describing Luki’s personality insane sometimes doesn’t quite do her justice. Neither do the words unrestrained, psychotic, instinctive, reckless, or violent. All these words seemed to be too watered down at times to offer an accurate description. Then again, that description appears to apply to many who find themselves in the same position as herself. Bred solely to be a weapon for an unknown cause. Since ‘birth’ she had been trained to think of everything like it’s just a game. Simple games like Hide and Go Seek, and Tag turn into brutal games that are deceivingly innocent. Games of killing and capturing targets. All this done, simply to manipulate the set of twins, turning them into mere warm, clay in a mold. Not that Luki particularly cares much, It made things fun.
Luki holds less regard for most forms of authority, simply preferring to toy with their heads instead. Even Giovanni has shown to have a tough time managing Noki and herself at times. The only people Luki has shown to unquestionably obey is the one they refer to as Fu-sama, and then, of course there is her. Mother.
Luki feels a strong kinship with any of the products of the DOGS experiment, seeing as she and Noki don’t even vaguely remember having any real parents. Out of all of the twin’s ‘kinsmen’ Giovanni is by far the closest to them. They even tend to idolize him a tad, unlike the others they attach the titles like “older brother” to. He (aside from Mother naturally) is the only one they truly consider family. However, all that being said, the most important person to Luki is and will always be Noki. Her other half, her twin. She has never known life without Noki, nor does she ever plan to, or even worry about it. Why worry about a fact that will never be threatened?
At first glance the Luki’s deeply set insanity is just barely apparent, barely hidden by the deceiving cheerful childlike demeanor. She seems to be overly dramatic in most aspects of things, always shifting from one extreme to another. One minute throwing a huge childish tantrum, the next being overly cheerfully. It’s this that causes most people to severely underestimate her abilities. Not that she minds however. That’s their (sometimes fatal) mistake, not hers. It doesn’t stop her from giving prey fair warning however. What fun is it for Noki and herself if there is no challenge? The chase is all part of the fun!
During battle the twins tend to announce themselves loudly as the “invincible Luki Noki twins” claiming to “leave and ocean of blood in their wake”. Which is true enough in itself (more details on that in the Abilities section). She relishes, thrives in the midst of battle, one could even say she gets a high off the adrenaline. Craves it. Craves the violence in the worst way. She doesn’t necessarily like the act of killing itself, dead people are boring after all. She loves the fight, the struggle. The challenge. Luki, the willing addict, only ever wants more, more only more. This sometimes causes accidental death, (Or maybe sometimes she had just been told to. Death is the same no matter what the cause. Boring.) due to the mere fact that she just got carried away. Not knowing when to stop. No one telling her to stop.
Abilities:
Luki was bred to be a weapon. Haine himself described their (meaning: himself and the twins) condition quite well: “Strength, Speed, Regenerative ability. Over spec’d on many levels.” All because of the experiments and tests, all because of the metal collar that’s implanted in her spine.
In greater detail… Luki is able to jump off tall buildings like one would jump off a few steps, dodge bullets with ease, even get pumped full of lead bullets and be fine seconds later. It is not like she can’t feel the pain and strain induced by things like getting cut open, or choked. She just doesn’t care. The pain signifies nothing to her. After being brutally shot at point blank in the chest, she’s more likely to cry and complain about her clothing being full of holes rather than being in any sort of pain. As for combat specialties, where her sister Noki’s skills are focused on guns, Luki herself is specialized with any sort of blades. Her sister is skilled in the art of mental torture; Luki in turn is skilled in the physical. They are two parts of the same, powerful unit.
However upon arriving in Manhattan, they seem to be completely unable to recover from a new type of wound…the parasite bites. If she or her sister were ever to be bitten, they’d no doubt be thrown into all sorts of panic on top of being completely incapacitated. Her speed will also be slowed to that of the average Olympic athlete, and jumping off three story buildings will now be labeled a definite “don’t do”.
Their regeneration rate has been slowed to the point where being shot in a place like the arm or leg will take a good, solid day or three rather than instantaneously. Though they will still crave violence in any form, in the worst way possible. The twins will most likely be a little more reserved (relatively speaking) until they get reacquainted with the limits of their own bodies again.
Weaknesses:
To put it simply, the only wound that the twins are not able to recover from (aside from crab bites of course) is any damage done to the head. Theoretically it’s the only thing that’s able to kill anyone from the DOGS project. Just simply crush their heads. So to combat this Luki will often place other body parts in harm’s way if she feels her head is being specifically threatened and targeted. She has been known to sacrifice her arm, or even her neck to get shot instead of her head.
All her other weaknesses are all personality faults. When engaged in battle Luki looses herself, only concentrating on wanting more, more blood, more damage, more destruction to those around, her similar to the tendencies of a berserker. Not caring what damage she does to others (including her family members) or herself.
More than anything however. Luki doesn’t understand the idea of life and death. Well, she knows what death is, but she doesn’t really care who or what she kills (her profession calls for it). This is where the problem lies. Luki fights as though she cannot be killed, even if shot in the head, regardless of any damage she may take. When she is completely and utterly serious she’ll ignore any pain, and injuries regardless of severity. Carrying a strong, “why worry about a wound if it was just going to heal anyways?” Additude.
Manhattanite or outsider? Very much an outsider
History:
Luki was brought into a depraved, debauched world ruled solely by violence and brutal crimes of all sorts. Where things such as ethics, justice, or moral standing are unheard of. Genetic modifications are commonplace, people of any sort snatched off the streets, from alleyways, anywhere and forced into prostitution or worse no matter what the age. Where gunfights, and gang wars litter the streets, and people are murdered in board daylight… or not, seeing as the sun has long since gone. No sun, no seasons. Just cold, a hopeless cold. Yet the people still survive. This is the hell Luki calls home. Her ultimate playground.
Even in a world where genetic modifications are bred like animals. Luki is different. Luki was brought up in a lab located even under hell most people call home. In the depths of The Underground, within a lab where children were not children, but bio-weapons. All creations of her. Mother. It was in this facility that Luki was fashioned with a metal collar, part of which was implanted in her spine. She had no memories of anything that occurred before, after having woke up in that place. Quite frankly she didn’t particularly care about it either. Besides, Luki was far from alone. She had her twin with her, as long as that continued to be, everything would be just fine. Luki is never without Noki, and intends fully for things to stay that way. Not that she worries too much about it. There is no way it could ever otherwise. That possibility is absolutely unthinkable.
The twins were raised in quite the horrific manner by modern day standards. Their love for blood and violence all but encouraged. Luki doesn’t quite know what is right and what is wrong, morally speaking. When it truly comes down to it. Luki only really cares about what’s fun and what feels good. Everything is a game to her, everything. Even games that test the thin line between life and death.
She grew up mostly secluded from the rest of the world in the beginning, only truly being exposed to her a select few scientists, and Giovanni (their only real older-brother figure). As their skills became more refined, more deadly, and their loyalty to Mother solidified and unshakable, they were gradually allowed more freedom. Eventually they were put into Campanella Freuling’s (aka: Fu-sama) and Giovanni’s (although it’s Giovanni whom seems to be left to track them down all the time) care for the time being allowing them to roam about “above ground” for periods of time. Occasionally taking the odd bounty hunting job for wanted criminals when they get bored.
It was during one of these outings that they were mysteriously transported to the slightly less dystopic Manhattan not too long after the disappearance of their older brother Giovanni. (Mother was not going to be pleased).
