http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Ellis [ Personality ] :
Ellis is your typical deep south redneck. He’s kind, caring, and polite, using ‘Sir’ and ‘Ma’am’ almost religiously, at least when it comes to his seniors. He’s the type to open a door for you, and pull your chair out so you can sit (though perhaps reserving that to girls). He’s also a very playful, optimistic person, seeing the humour in most things and not taking the world too seriously, which can tend to make him come off as an immature person.
For example, when they arrived in Kiddy Land at an Amusement Park, all Ellis wanted to do was have fun, and make cotton candy, and he tends to think stumbling upon a large group of zombies to be like Christmas.
Over all, he tends to treat the zombie apocalypse like a game, and this tends to get him in trouble, as he’s often very careless when it comes to his shenanigans. He doesn’t stop to think what he could be doing is dangerous, and being the type to like impressing people, he tends to do a lot of dangerous things, most of which are retold in the form of stories involving him and his best friend, Keith; such as the time the two of them snuck paintball guns on a rollercoaster, or trying to make homemade fireworks.
Whether or not these stories are greatly exaggerated is anyone’s guess, as Ellis seems to be genuinely sincere when telling them, though the fact that Ellis himself is seemingly never hurt whilst Keith tends to either get burns over 90% of his body, or stabbed by a homeless person, implies that the stories aren’t really as extreme as he makes them out to be.
Despite his immaturity, he is capable of being serious when the need arises. He tends to calm down when insisted by his friends, or when called out on his behavior in general. Another thing that would cause him to calm down and get serious if his friends or loved ones were put in danger. This is another example of when his recklessness can get him in trouble. If his friends are in danger, he’ll most certainly risk his life and limb to save them.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Ellis is definitely skilled with guns, coming from a zombie apocalypse, not to mention the fact that he claims to have learned how to shoot guns before he could walk. He’s also pretty good with melee weapons, having had to use makeshift weapons on the fly when out of ammo.
He also worked at a car garage before the apocalypse, so he knows his fair share about any and all things vehicle related, and it can be presumed that he also knows his way around tech stuff as well.
Ellis’ biggest weakness is definitely his people skills. He generally does not have the maturity your average person of his age would have, and he has an easy time of annoying people, as he’s terrible at reading them and so doesn’t realize if he’s annoying people, unless outright told to stop.
Another one of Ellis’ weaknesses is, as said in the Personality section, he tends to be reckless both unintentionally, and on purpose to show off for others.
