It seems that life is so full of pain and loneliness that we cant even stop for a moment and face it. Once in a while, a hobby may come along, a significant other may come along, an interesting event may come along, and we look forward to these passing clouds as if they are the reason for our existence. The fact is, everything that comes, no matter ( Read more... )

But isn't it because of the pain that we are human beings? Those who reach the source are god or god-like, they are not human any more. Life is like a rape, if you can't fight against it, close your eyes and enjoy it as much as you can.

Our little mind is like a mental prison. It keeps on repeating the same thoughts and emotions, it dulls our intelligence forces our actions to feed these repetitive psycho-drama.

Most humans cant be free of them even if they want to. However, it is such a common suffering that it becomes part of human identity.

It reminds me of a lab rat I encountered in my university days when I study psychology. The rat is placed in a maze and tested to find how fast it learns to find the cheese in the maze. If it takes the wrong route, it will get a painful electric shock. After the class ends, Im supposed to "dispose" the rat. I didnt have the heart to, so I decided to free it by opening the entrance of the maze right behind it. To my surprise, the rat refuse to leave.

I decided not to force the rat to leave. Perhaps, like humans, it has seen being trapped between this constant shift from pleasure to pain as part of being a rat.

yeah, I've read something similar before. A few monkeys are trapped in a cage, there's banana hanging on the top. If any one of the monkeys reaches out for the banana, all of them will get electrified (or something else i can't remember). Then one of them is replaced of by a new monkey, when the newbie reaches out for the banana, the rest of them attack him before he manages to touch it.

But I'm thinking, if the monkeys are not able to escape from the cage or fight against the One who sets up the cage, they really can do nothing but not to reach out for the banana and prevent others do that. Though banana is their favourate.

Yeah, i read the monkey one before too. Actually, they are splashed with cold water - not electrocuted.

At the end of the experiment however, after all the original monkeys are removed, no water is splashed.

But even then, the newest one will still get attacked by the new existing monkeys in the cage if he reachest out for the banana - even though they do not know what is the reason for this.

Apparently, this experiment was demonstrated to show how company policies are created - where the rules are passed on but nobody knows why it was in place in the first place.
