So How I Met Your Mother (or HIM-YM as we fans call it) returned a few days ago with stuff. And Bro-tp angst. And FEELINGS. Having just re-watched the double-episode-opener, I thought I'd blog spoilers.
1. VIC TOR EEE AAAAH!
If you don't ship Ted/Victoria, honestly, if Drumroll Please left you cold, I honestly wonder WHY you got into HIMYM in the first place. (unless you didn't start with Season 1)
((in which case WHY???? You HAVE to start from the START!))
Anyway, Victoria is awesome and I will brook no opposition and SHE WILL MAKE ME WATCH EPISODE 3. So there.
PLUS! Songs by The Kinks are totally synonymous with HIMYM. Victoria! Popquiz - what other Kinks song played in a classic HIMYM episode? Answers on a postcard.
Anyway, I WANT TED TO BE ROMANTIC AGAIN, and the reintroduction of the Season 1 iconic GF hits all the right buttons for me.
2. FUCK ME! Marshall Eriksen is suddenly GORGEOUS! And was the funniest!
Did Jason lose weight? Seriously, this is the closest to classic Season 1 Marshall (ie Freaks and Geeks Jason) that we've got so far. I really dig him. Plus, he was cute and funny and lovely. LOVELY. In both episodes.
Did everybody freeze this screen? I DID!
I want free Tacos Marshall!

3. ROBIN BEING ROBIN
Robin lost something. She lost something BAD. In seasons 4-6 she lost her essential Cigar-smoking, gun-toting, red-meat-eating, HBICness. But she got it back. She BACK, man. And cigar smoking just proves it.
And she ROCKED the dancefloor. My ladyparts tingled for her.
And I loved them bringing back Robin not being able to handle her feelings - like in Season 1! Robin does unrequited REALLY AWESOMELY.
Things I did not like.
a) Martin Short. I love The Three Amigos. I was obsessed with The Three Amigos. But Martin Short in this is just NOT FUNNY. He's basically the same character as Dave Foley (I ws also obsessed with The Kids In The Hall) and equally unfunny. I hope we don't see much more of him.
b) Robin's Hair. OH. MY. GOD. It's AWFUL. If she was going to cut it she should have gone for a Lesbian Robin pixie cut. It's neither nowt nor summit.
c) Barney's womanising. One dimensional, sorry. It was casual laughter, but nothing deep. Still, the other characters were great, so...
d) Nora. I know loads of people like her, but she's SO annoying.
So seriously, give HIMYM some love! What did you like? What didn't you like so much? You can be honest here.
