Oh my GOODNESS. Okay, so this was totally dirty-hot, but what I LOVED was the last few lines, where Ted threatens to never speak to Barney again if he ever touches Robin, and then the end where he says they'll still secretly hook up and Barney gets all cute and relieved. That part was just pure awesome.

And now this is canon, in my mind. As is the they-secretly-hook-up-throughout-the-series tinhat theory.

Seriously, just rewatch Moving Day and tell me that episode isn't at least 50% Barney/Ted shippy. And also tell me it's not totally building to the events in The Goat. Barney's intense jealousy about Ted moving in with Robin makes so much more sense if Barney and Ted have been hooking up. Barney will almost do ANYTHING to stop Ted moving in with Robin (to the extent of stealing his truck). The PWP almost falls naturally out of it.

This prompt was an absolute joy for that reason.

I'd say Moving Day is at least 83% Ted/Barney shippy. :) Yeah, the Robin stuff does factor in, but SO MUCH is about Ted and Barney and their relationship.

And I was just thinking about that earlier today! I'm going to be pretty busy this weekend, but I could try to at least draw up an outline or something? I rewatched a couple episodes looking out for T/B shippiness (just the pilot and Sweet Taste of Liberty, which to me are the two biggest them-episodes of the season).

Yes! Yes! Yes! I love you. And of course, The Pilot and Sweet Taste of Liberty definitely set out the stall of Barney/Ted's brolationship early.

But then Ted/Robin and Ted/Victoria dominate a large part of season 1.

Of course, there's probably lots of tiny supporting Ted/Barney moments. Such as in Slutty Pumpkin where Barney sticks around at the roof party for Ted, even using a Penguin costume to shake Ted up.

But those are the main two B/T shippy episodes for that season.

I'm still annoyed that B/T haven't kissed in canon. We need an anim of that outtake where it looks like they're going to kiss! I have a feeling that was season 1?

Yeah, and Ted gets all starry-eyed over the penguin before realizing it's Barney! I love that. :D But you're right about most of the season being about T/R and T/V (hey, TV!). And Barney being ridiculous, even though he does have that storyline where Marshall comes to work with him.

Yeah, seriously. I mean, Barney's made out with everyone. He kissed Marshall in the first episode. Ted's made out with Robin and Lily. Personally, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that their doppelgangers will be a GCWOK. Or that one of them gets a brain tumor and has an elaborate fantasy that they're married in an alternate universe. ;D

I'm pretty sure a gif of that outtake (yeah, it's season 1) exists, because Vim had one and posted it somewhere on the RP. If I remember where, I'll point it out to you.
