So yeah, life's been crazy now. For a while I won't have regular acess to the internet so I thought I'd post what art I did so far this summer. Annnnnd I'm just going to link to my deviant art because I don't feel like posting it all up here because it always causes problems. ladygawain.deviantart.com/
All this art are ideas for the senior year thesis. I'm trying to compose a solid story for this in my head, but so far I only have characters bopping around. I'll keep you guys posted.

Let's Play: Silent Hill- Impressions Thus Far

So me and my sister started playing the Silent Hill games. I'm not really one for horror... but so far I'm really liking it. It fact, it kind of turned my perceptions of the horror genre around. I never watched horror that much because the movies in the genre recently just seem like gore and violence. In one of Spoony's Vlogs about Paranormal Activity, he articulates it better than I can. You can watch it here -> spoonyexperiment.com/2009/10/11/vlog-10-11-09-paranormal-activity/  His thoughts also helped me learn more about the horror genre, and that there is a distinction between something that is horror and something that is scary.

So far the game is just very unnaturally UNERVING. The ambience and atmopshere are incredible, and really set you on the edge as you play. The game play makes the situation "realistic". You and the main character have no idea what's going on and have to use the items you find around town to survive. There is virtually no music at all, so you can only here the creepy noises of the monsters and your radio which has a alarm warning then emits static if one is in your immediate area. The only music that is there sounds more like a beating heart then anything else.

Maybe it's because I'm a wuss, I don't know, but I find the game scary.  Anyways, It kind of builds it up too. It starts off sorta scary then VERY scary. Like, your fearful of going into that room, or going to the next screen because some horrible hell-spawn creature will be there and slaughter you. And they don't even really POP out at you. Okay there was that one time, me and my sister screamed. But most of the time you KNOW they''re there, you're anticipating it, so you're waiting for them to emerge for the midst and shadows, and you're  totally on edge.

I'm enjoying the game, and I understand why it's considered a classic. Maybe it's because I don't really play video games, but I always feel like a dork when I admire the graphics or game play of some video games, like this one. I would like to hear your thoughts too about this or horror or whatever!
