Six-Flags

Only two rides at the Texas version of this amusement park made up for the bits that made me want to hack it to many tiny pieces with a large blunt battle axe...

First off, the music in the entrance-area was sickening... That really 'cheerful', overly patronising stuff you might get 50 years ago in a toy-shop... Just a couple of minutes of it was enough to make both of us somewhat less than chirpy... a great first impression :P

Secondly, it costs a stupid amount to get in in the first place... which emptied Amandy's and my wallets...

Next, they refused to allow our food into their park... they gave no reason other than that "we've always done it like this." Nothing like "we want to take all your money, sop we only let you eat food that you buy here," nono... they could never give a suitable reason for anything... They just follow their 'traditions' >:|

Then (and I admit that this was also my fault) we went onto our second ride of the day... the Texas Giant it was called... the 'best wodden roller-coaster in America' it boasted. It didn't, however, have any signs warning passengers to remove glasses... This was the forst rolller-coaster that we'd been on here, and were not at that time aware that any of 'em there had such warnings.
I did not take my glasses off at the beginning of the ride... but the judderings and shakings of this machine started to dislodge them from my face. Obviously the sensible thing to do here is to take my glasses off and hold them securely until the end of the ride. So this is what I tried to do...
But no. I tried to take them off with my left hand, only to have the shaking upset my coordination to the point that in trying to catch the glasses before I lost them forever, one of the screws in the frame snapped and the left lense popped out. Damn that ride and it's insufficient warnings >:|

But apart from that, and the occasional long queue (to be expected anyway) t'was a good day all in all.

And now I'm left to spend the rest of my time in this over-sized country wearing my prescription sun-glasses everywhere, dammit...

Oh yes, and Swoop arrived this evening... which is nice :)
