I don't like the look of this.

Boards of Canada fans are crazy. Were you aware that not only are they simply obsessive but also part of a huge cult following? Yep. Trust me, BoC has achieved cult status. They're one of those secretive bands that kinda indirectly sneaks up on you and takes you for their own if you get too close.

That's kinda what happened with me. Years ago, the closest I was getting to electronic music was Radiohead (with their Kid A and Amnesiac albums or whatever). I heard Boards of Canada through random places on the internet and instantly acknowledged their mass hype. I was open to what they were going to be like because I was looking for more music and I thought I'd like them. But to be honest, the first time I heard them, I was completely baffled as to why anybody could be so into the music. I thought it was simplistic. And even a little boring.

Still, in regards to now, I can't explain it. I'm not sure how I turned into such a huge fan. Somewhere along the way, I managed to end up downloading the whole first album by them, Music Has The Right To Children. And then last year, I picked up their latest release, The Campfire Headphase -- which in my opinion, rivals for their best despite the majorities of critics' opinions.

However, right now, I am going to focus on their second album, Geogaddi. To put it bluntly, it's a sketchy album. For once, I felt that the majority of the minute-or-so-long interludes didn't really work. And quite a few of the real songs really are boring to me. Yet through the albums weakpoints, there are still definitely some amazing moments. To me, Geogaddi plays with a sense of space. Songs either focus on the illusion of big open spaces or the idea of being reaaalllyyy close, right in your ear. Of the latter, I only have one example for you, which is "Gyroscope". My sister has told me that listening to this song has given her nightmares. Come to think of it, it is a little creepy... Anyway, the other songs I'm posting here show the album's strongpoints, unique and stunning displays of grandiose sound.
