And today I had the crushingly similar realization that I have to throw away the stuff I was wanting to save from the first/second/third start of the Archivalist book, or it stays comatose to death.
Because it's just not the book I need to write.
In a way it's a relief to know I just need to start over instead of trying again to make the material I had work.
Basically, I was trying to write a boarding-school-of-the-elite book with touches of steampunk intrigue.
It needs to be a ninja-training-camp book with touches of prep school just enough to complicate things.
You can imagine the entrance to these books would be very different...
