The quote you began with? Totally awesome. I have a difficult time with the Taiwanese dramas...I have a bit of the Korean bias too. Plus, so many of them start out awesom and then just go on and on and on (and on), until you're crying because you just want the leads to get together without the side-shows.

BTW, I forgot to go back and comment on it, but I totally adored 18 vs 30 (or whatever the second number was). I thought it was kinda cute, though I couldn't tell you the plot now, years later. :P

Since Taiwanese dramas are a big fan of having men who are facing off at kissing distance to glower at each other, it seemed particularly apt, too.

I totally know what you mean about Taiwanese dramas. I am working on a list of things that are fun enough I sometimes rewatch parts of them, and there will be a few T-dramas on there, but they always do tend to feel like they're just *creating* trouble. Down with Love was a nice exception to this, most of the plot complications closed down at their proper time, instead of living long zombie lives...
