It's Friday, and I'm outta here in 30 minutes. Good thing, because I'm about to fall asleep. *g*
I have a long weekend due to the holiday. And teh roomie is going to be in San Diego. Something about hanging with her family. Whatever, pfft! *g* Anyway! Because I'm going to have all this time, I figured I may as well spend it writing. So here's your chance.
Give me a prompt (or two or three, whatever) and I will write you a drabble or ficlet or something.
For those interested, I did get to talk to my dad on Wednesday. The nurse put me through to him, and we talked for about 20 minutes. He sounded pretty rough from the breathing tube that had been in, but seemed to be in good spirits for the most part. He's still in the hospital because he had a scare yesterday (thought he was having another heart attack, but it turned out to be stress instead, thankfully), and there's still no definite word on the pacemaker. But given how his heart rate keeps spiking, I've already accepted that the doctor is going to do it.
Last night was Steve Carlson at the Hotel Cafe. Even though poor Steve was losing his voice (and there was mention of steroid shots in the ass for the voice), the show as fantastic, as always, and they played "Rocking Chair" (insert squeeing here). For those who don't know, they played the day after my birthday and when they found out, they asked what I wanted to hear. "Rocking Chair" was the song, but Jonah didn't know it. So. Fast forward to last week, and
azewewish and
without_me 'reminded' the guys about it, and Jonah swore he'd learn it in time for last night. He did, and it rocked. *g* As others have already said, thank god Steve didn't take Jensen's advice to cancel. There would've been flights booked to Vancouver this morning otherwise. ;)
After the show, we got treated to an impromptu acoustic type jam session by 3/4 of Dress with Jonah on the piano and Steve Dress on his upright bass, while Cory belted out lyrics. Absolutely fantastic (and the jazzy/bluesy stripped down cover of U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"...homg!!!), and they totally won over
onelittlesleep. *g*
Other than that, getting to hang out again with
onelittlesleep,
without_me and
coolwhipdiva (in addition to teh roomie) was all sorts of fantabulous, like always. And meeting
coiledsoul rocked! Hooray for Southern girls in SoCal!
