What is fancy?

Recently, I was watching the show Revenge and marveling at how young Madeline Stowe looks. I thought the same thing when I saw a picture of Winona Ryder. Looking at my own beginning-to-age skin in the mirror, I thought, "Maybe I should doing something about this situation." Then, I remembered that I'm not a real housewife of Boston, and regular ( Read more... )

I periodically paint my finger/toenails, and Grant periodically rubs my feet with lotion - but there is definitely nothing going on around here to qualify as a home-done or bought mani/pedi. I took Ananda for a manicure once on her birthday because she'd asked for it.

I cut my own hair and my kids, have never dyed my hair, do dye Ananda's (myself).

I do my own eyebrows (with a razor and mini-scissors no less, I've never waxed anything) and body hair maintenance.

I am seriously considering botox soon. I have two lines, one bigger than the other, that are new as of this year across the middle of my forehead. They're not DEEP, but they never go away. I've been researching how you normally need botox every few months to keep lines gone, but if you catch something right as it happens like this it can buy you years til they reappear. I frequently get groupon/livingsocial offers in my email for botox that are around $100-150.

I've also had and loved a spa facial and would like to do that again sometime, for the experience during - for the results, I think LUSH's fresh face masks do about the same thing.

If grocery delivery were available in my area I would pine after it but probably not actually utilize it. I do order things like tea via amazon subscription, though.

My children do all the laundry and animal care around here.

Grant does all the lawn care and home maintenance, though we both wish we could afford to pay for more services in this regard - our yard gets a bit overgrown sometimes but we just can't bear to prioritize that expense.

Once, I had two people come clean my house for two hours (with a livingsocial deal, they are so wonderful) and it was like the clouds parting. I would really, really love to be able to afford to do that regularly. Since summer started, there have been three times I've had a teenage girl from PATH wash all of our dishes when they were really piled up, while she was here babysitting anyway, for some extra added on to her pay.

Something I can never understand how ANYONE deals with, that is a major deal in Miami, is paying for valet parking. I will walk a block before I give somebody $20 to hang onto my car keys unattended, ANY DAY.

If I could trust them, I can easily imagine paying drivers to deliver my kids to activities, though. We have such crazy streets - I really don't know how to just let people get on the highway with my kids in their car unless I've SEEN them driving. I speed but I don't tailgate or get angry on the road, and I'm pretty good as far as being observant and reacting quickly. Most everyone else I know has been in several accidents :/
