Scene 1- inside a classroom: daytime
Fade in from black. WES is sitting in class, playing with his pen. He is dressed in his Dalton uniform. He looks like he is about to fall asleep on his desk. In the background, a teacher is talking. The camera is focused on WES, but shows that there are other people in the classroom with him, faded into the background.
WES (voiceover)
I was never a great student. Good enough, sure, but not great. I could pass my classes with enough studying, and I always managed to pull a decent final paper in at just the right time. The thing is, I'm good at one thing, and that one thing is singing.
WES sits up in his seat, suddenly energized.
WES (voiceover cont'd)
I've been with the Warblers for three long years. We've had our ups and downs as a show choir. There was the Gap Attack incident, where we all were banned from every Gap in Ohio for a year. There was the time that the whole club got the flu at the same time and had to miss our big Christmas show. And, of course there was our spectacular loss at Regionals last year. But that's all behind us now.
The bell rings. Cut to a shot of WES walking through the hallway, laughing with JEFF and DAVID. All three are clutching their books to their chests, and walking with purpose towards the choir room.

Because this year, I'm a senior. Nationals is ours, I can feel it. We've got the talent, we've got the energy, and we've got the manpower to win. All we need is the right music and a little bit of luck.
WES slips and falls out of the shot.

Of course, luck has never been my strong suit.
Fade to black. The red “D” of the Dalton crest appears. The words, “The Dalton Warblers” form around it in an old-english-style font. Fade
into the next scene.
