Dragon*Con. Where to begin? It's always the best party of the year, and consequently my favorite weekend of the year. I didn't experience as much of the actual con (panels and such) as usual, but still had a good time. I got to meet a bunch of people on my f-list who I hadn't previously met, which was nice. There were a few people who made it wonderful for me, namely Dustin, Mel, Sam, Gayle, Chris (both of them), and Nadine. I got my time with Dustin after not having seen him for three months, and it still doesn't feel like enough. The time we did have was perfect, and I couldn't wish for anything better. It's odd, but I'm more comfortable around some of the people I only see a few times a year than I am around people I see every day. It's no slight against the friends I have where I live, but there's some connection that this group of people has that's more special than most things in my life. I spent yesterday after I left and today feeling all emo. If it was raining outside, I'd go ride my bike. While I was at the con, I took some fifty or so pictures, forty-three of which made the cut. All thumbnails open to larger photos. Names read from left to right. If you'd like a large, high-res, unaltered version of one, email me at hr.yerby@gmail.com or leave a comment here and tell me which one.
Myself, Dustin, and Nadine in our Star Wars stuff a while after I got to the con.
Nadine looked so pretty in her Padmé costume. Nadine, if I didn't tell you at the time, you did a wonderful job.
Dustin and Chris as Obi-Wan and Anakin with their lightsabers, including Chris choking Dustin and laughing hysterically about it. 'Cause that's how he rolls.
Nadine, Chris, Dustin, and me as Padmé, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmé, respectively. This is one of my favorite group pictures that I was in.
The wonderfully done ent from our group.
Three Satines and a Christian. That should be a band name or something.
Though I was in the parade, I gave my camera to somebody else, who took some pictures for me. Here are some pilots from the Rebel Legion, a pair of very well done wookiees, the required "ton o' troopers" picture, some Imperial baddies, and a Jango Fett.
Dooku about to get his head severed. Not sure who the Anakin is, probably Chris.
EDIT: Anakin is actually Stacy, not Chris. My mistake.
Sarah, dressed wonderfully as Kevin from Sin City. Eventually, I'd like to go back and photoshop this picture so that the background is all black and white.
Myself and Nadine as Éowyn and Arwen, respectively.
Maddy and Gayle with their faces painted by a very nice lady who set up a face painting stand next to our AoME table.
A very nicely done Luna Lovegood, complete with Gryffindor lion hat!!
Wade and Chris as Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, and both again with another Jack and a Captain Norrington.
Chris as Will Turner, me in my Éowyn dress, and Wade as Jack Sparrow. Everybody should have a few pirates.
Dustin as Aragorn giving the ring to Sarah as Frodo.
Speaking of Sarah, she's a bit of a slash freak.
Chris, as his trademark stoic and aloof self, dressed as Legolas, and Dustin, also acting like himself, as Aragorn.
Stephan as Gollum.
Chris and Dustin as Legolas and Aragorn, with some various Arwens. Surprisingly, the group had very few Arwens this year. They usually come in droves.
A few group pictures of Arms of Middle Earth.
A group of our hobbits, Emily, Nadine, David, Mel, Maddy, and Sarah. Sarah's only in the second picture.
Gayle in all her balrog baddie-ness.
Jesus with two large firearms.
Dustin, Sarah, and Stacy as fell-off-a-cliff Aragorn, Mount Doom Frodo, and Black Gate Aragorn. Also, Stacy and Dustin with Mike as Ranger Aragorn.
Mel as Frodo with Sting. I think it was lit up in this picture, but it doesn't show very well.
Nadine and I after we stole some of Chris's Will Turner costume stuff. This picture rocks my face. I want to frame it and hang it on my wall.
Barf!!
A very well done Buffy and Angel.
Finally, one of me in my Black Diamonds. This is the only one up here that I didn't take; it came from Rit. I'm posting it since a few of you who didn't see it at the con asked me to find a picture.
That's all, folks.
